Warriors: not sure, I never really play this role but probably Berserker, Templar and Reaver.
Rogues: Please please bring back the bard, and also ranger and assassin
Mages: This is an overused concept but something more like a druid. Combine the shapeshifter with the "keeper" specialization from awakening. Other choices would be spirit healer and blood mage. I only mention blood mage because it has such a heavy emphasis in the dragon age storyline, and I like the idea others in this thread mentioned about summoning demons.

I want to see offensive and defensive specializations for each class.

I thought of an idea:

Something like Spirit warrior, but for rogues. Can have skills like fade walk where the character "teleports" through the fade, and behind the target or something.

I'm hoping the Arcane Warrior can return, especially since we'll have an Elven Inquisitor.

Rooting out corruption and opposing the Chantry, which have historically subjugated elves, with the revived magical techniques of our ancient elven ancestors would be simply awesome.

Mage: Spirit Healer, Battle Mage/Arcane Warrior combo, Blood Mage, and Shape Shifter/Keeper Combo

Rogue: Ranger, Duelist, Assassin/Shadow combo, Bard/Scout combo

Warrior: Templar, Champion/Gaurdian combo, Spirit Warrior, and Reaver/Beserker combo

These would be great

Warrior: Knight-Sorcerer, you can use some magic

Mage: Elemental Savant, you can go into more depth with elemental attacks and summon tsunamis or rain meteorites and etc.

Rogue: I don't give a f*ck because I don't use it.

A lot of the suggestions here seem to be (unknowingly) trying to turn Specs into the equivalent of DnD prestige classes, which they aren't really. Specializations open a window to something very different for the player, it's not just about playing styles even though it obviously affects them. So things like "I want to play an elementalist", "I want a one-handed duelist"... can already be perfectly built with the normal DA2 class skill trees.

My guess is that we'll just have specializations that have an important plot salience for the game, like Blood Mage, Bard, Chevalier, Templar, probably Spirit Healer... If they link them to the "faction origin" of your character somehow (I guess that depends on the variety that we can choose from within each class) there could be something Gray Warden, or a Keeper (or First) spec for Dalish mages, Legionaire, maybe Apostate...

Hmm..I almost always play a mage so I will give my 2 cents of Mage Specializations...

- A mage-rogue specialization. Specialization name :- Arcane Assassin. We need this. I want to be able to go invisible and cast fireballs from the shadows. Decoys, illusions, doppleganger spells :D

-Expand Blood Magic by combining it with Necromancy and Summoning. We see NPC mages using blood magic to summon demons and undead.

-Expand Spirit Healer specialization. By this allow healing spells to do high damage against undead and demons. Sort of like Restoration spells in Elder Scrolls.  Spirit Healer lack offensive capability.

-Expand Force Mage specialization to include pspells like Force Pull, Force Push, Force Choke, Gravity Shift (weakens gravity so projectiles veer off course, hinder movement). Its the Force after all

-Druid/Keeper specialization. The magic of the forests should involve poison spells and spells that command animals & summon animals.

-Bring back Arcane Warrior specialization. Allow Arcane Warriors to be able to use bows as well as blades and shields.

-Spellweaver Specialization. The idea behind this is to allow a spellcaster to combine certain spells to produce a completely new one. I got the idea from Invoker of DoTA  & from Primal Mastery . Here he is dota2.gamepedia.com/Invoker . This is Primal Mastery :- dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/3305// My idea is a Spellweaver has a new spell that allows him to combine 2-3 spells of other schools to create a new spell. The Spellweaver can only have a limited number of combined spell at one time.  So like combine Rock Armor and Flame Blast to create Volcanic Armor or combine Petrify, Flame Blast &  Shock to create Ionic Cage, etc. Would love this in Dragon Age because I like to micromanage :D

So long as they require to be unlocked the first time.... isntead of just "i'm lv7 now, BLAM! Blood mage!"
Subsequent playthroughs shouldn't require the unlock... cause that's a "new game+" feature.

Warrior: Any

Rogue: Same

Mage: Arcane Warrior... Cause... yeah. (And I liked the quest to unlock it in Origins.)

Great minds ALMOST think alike huh? I would still kill for a Templar hunter/Spirit rogue spec, but this sounds cool too.

Blood Mage - Since you are the Inquisitor you are granted special dispensation to use this dark art. You managed to acquire the knowledge from ancient tomes from the tevninter mages, held in secret by the church or the wardens. However this means most of the people in power know what you are and trust you even less than normal. Even other mages dislike you, some calling you a hypocrite. But you know the truth, you have to understand the truth. To ensure the survival of the world NO technique, no knowledge is off limits.

Spirit mage - Studying the methods of Mages like Wynne and Anders you've found a way to summon spirits of the fade to share your body. But unlike the others you can summon a spirit for a specific purpose. A Justice Spirit is summoned to empower the limbs of your allies, A vengeance Spirit  improves your destructive power. A healing spirit soothes your friends, a pestilence spirit causes the wounds of your enemies to fester. You are not a blood mage so people do not outright fear you, but neither do they really understand.

Some people are asking for Templar hunters for a rogue specialization, and while I like the idea of a magic fighting rogue, I think that the Templar discipline runs counter to the concept of a rogue, by definition a rogue is roguish, and generally lacks the standard discipline required for templar training (as Alistair says in DA:O). I think then it would make more sense to be some form of mercenary or obscure discipline of the elves or tevinter for a magic hunting rogue.

MAGE
  • Elementalist: While many mages can use the elements to their advantage, few can wield them to a degree as an elementalist can. Not only are they adept in the use of elemental magic, but they're also scientifically savvy individuals who are quick to use their extensive knowledge of the world to their advantage. Elementalists are best known for blending different elemental magics into devastating fusion attacks.

Having recently watch DotS, I'm leaning towards a Seeker specialization or a Dragon Hunter specialization for warriors.

I think mages need a return of Shape-shifter specialization, especially if Morrigan plays any kind of role in the Inquisitor's development.

Rogues may see the duelist specialization again. Orlais seems to be more or less based on France, and when one thinks of the Ancien Regime, one thinks of foppish nobles fighting duels with rapiers.

Spirit Healer (DA:O improved and expanded)
Shape shifter (that is actually worth a damn and doesn't need several player made mods just to get some mileage from it)

These two would make me happy.

I don't really have specifics in mind, but I'd rather have specializations that support various playstyles (support, sneaky, hacknslash).

this is probably insanely hard to code, but I'd love to see water magic for mages

I mean we have fire, frost, earth, and lightening

Why no water based magic?

Technically, frost is water.

Well technically Sebastian is a "rogue" and he's so disciplined you don't even get the option to have sex with him if you romance him.

I've been playing my custom class in Dark Souls for a while:
It's called the Gentlewizard, a gentleman rogue/mage combo. That means a rapier in one hand and duelling, but a staff in the other to fire lightning at the same time. No stealth or poison or trap making, but a TON of dps, and brilliant melee and ranged.
