Yes, this relates to ME3 MP because this is the only game that I’ve played online on the xbox.

Yesterday I was waiting for a friend to join my lobby and I was just mucking around (after I’d exhausted all options of playing around with my character’s appearance) and I decided to view my rep on my gamer card. I’ve never even looked at it before.

Anyway, it yielded the following results:
70% of people I’ve played with either chose to submit a positive player review or no review at all.
30% of people I’ve played with submitted a negative player review.

That’s quite a large figure – 3 out of 10 people wanted to avoid me for various reasons.

Anyway, of that 30%:
8% said that I was aggressive.
41% said that I was unsporting.
41% said that I quitted early.

I know that many of you will just tell me to get over myself and/or ignore it, but this honestly upset me because I’d like to know exactly what I did to earn such negative feedback (so that I can improve in future).

Being honest, I can recall two really bad occasions where I was definitely at fault.

The first is a few months ago:

I’d had connection issues (and obviously I blamed it on EA or the xbox rather than myself); I kept getting disconnected from every match I played, half-way through or later – when you’re invested.

My idea of a remedy to this problem was to host my own match (since I just thought I was lagging off everyone else). I never normally host, but I made the exception this time. And it totally backfired. We landed on FB Jade and less than two seconds in; I got the disconnection message. Well of course everyone else would think that I’d just trolled them and cost them their equipment, even though that was never my intention (I was just as angry as them).

That’s the first instance I can think of where I’d warrant negative feedback which was totally and undisputably deserved.

The second was a few weeks ago when I was drunk (nothing new there, admittedly Image IPB) and the host began the match with just the two of us (I always think that it’s at the host’s discretion whether or not they begin the game with a full squad or not). Anyways, we got dropped into FB White. I died a lot and decided to leave. I know that’s bad, but I had two things running through my mind. A: I was embarrassed by my poor performance. B: I didn’t want to drag the other person down.

While I know that it’s better to stick it out (people prefer cannon-fodder over nothing at all!); I just thought that they’d do better without me. That, and I had no patience (because I was drunk – my fault, again Image IPB). I’m not proud of it, because I know that I should have stayed.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m one of those people who puts in a 110% no matter what the odds. I’ll use up all my gel and missiles, even if it’s obvious that we won’t get very far. I don’t care if the match is a lost cause; I’ll do whatever it takes to get to the next wave (often in the vain hope that others will put in as much effort as I have).

Obviously I don’t mind going out of pocket, or I would’ve quit this game ages ago. I just think that sometimes all it takes is one mug making an effort; sometimes other pugs might step-up and surprise you.

Okay; my long and boring story aside: I just really wanted to ask you folks (and this isn’t xbox exclusive) exactly what kind of things/behaviour warrant disappointment and negative feedback from you.

Also, how often do you leave player feedback? Personally I’m only inclined if someone really gets on my bad side (deliberate leechers). Usually, however; I don’t judge people based on just one match. If I’ve run a few with the same people; I leave positive feedback.

Thank you so much if you took the time to read this; I really appreciate it. Image IPB

My Rep is screwed up from Halo 3 and the Reach Beta.

Look, if bungie decided to place the spartans power weapons in a place the elites have access to, I'm gonna access it with my buddy.

That's not unsporting.

I'll read the rest of this in a bit but one thing I hate about this game is it ruined my rep. Back in my CoD days I had a 91% disapproval rating and since this is PvE it's gone back up to like 60%. :(

People are quick to complain, but slow to complement.
Far more people use the avoid option than the prefer option.
X-bawks rep system is bad, and it should feel bad.
If it makes you feel better, try playing a PvP game, get good at it, then watch your rep PLUMMET.

Xbox Live feedback system is broken. /thread

...but seriously the fact that the system greatly favors negative feedback of any sort leads me to shrug off the broken thing that is the reputation system on lolecksbawks. My COD playing days have me and my friends at 90% avoided or greater (one even has 100% lol) and I imagine playing BF3 and soon 4 are not helping. Supposedly with Xbone coming out they're going another route with their reputation setup but I'm not holding my breath on that.

if ME is the first time you've played an online MP game Lemur, then you CANNOT take the negative stuff to heart.

pugs are crazy and will negative report you for simply being an efficient killer, regardless of how much of the "teammate" things you've done well through the match.

they also flip out about disconnects. had a couple pugs send me some "huffy grams" thinking I bailed on them when in fact I got DC'd.

dunno about PvP games tho.

it's been a long while since i submitted a negative player review. that was back when i expected better behavior from random players in encountered. nowadays? don't really care. if they REALLY cross the line i may submit a review and "avoid" them, but again there's very little that surprises me these days ingame.

One does not simply imply e-peen.

You whip it out and smack people with it. That's how you e-peen.

I have some negatives for trash talk. I never talk to pugs so that feedback must be from friends.

No that's not accurate. It says that but it's wrong. Your rep does not change if someone does not give you a review. What it should say is this:

70% of people who reviewed me submitted a positive player review
30% of people who reviewed me submitted a negative player review

So in fact the amount of negative reviews you've received is much much less than 3 out of 10 players. The only thing that can be said is that 3 out of 10 players that have chosen to review you have given you a negative rating. In reality the amount of people who leave feedback after a match is extremely small.

I'm 80/20 positive/negative, without a single specific complaint made. I can only assume that I've fallen into disfavor with some players for mediocre play. I've improved, though. How can I get back into the good graces of internet strangers who had to revive me one too many times on Silver?

As other have attested to if you're any good at any PvP game like Halo, Battlefield, or COD your reputation will plummet humoursly fast.

Unless you somehow irritate them, for an infinite amount of reasons nowadays.

This guy understands.
The system should read:
3.5% prefered
95% meh
1.5% avoided

Thanks SilentStep: although you always go out of your way to make me feel better, even when I'm in the wrong! Image IPB

Also: no e-peen was implied. I could've gone all rage and said 'yeah people are so ungrateful; that's the last time I carry pugs!'

But, no. I only really had xbox for Mass Effect. I was on PS3 before that for KZ 2, and there wasn't a rep system (to my knowledge).

I know that you're all right and that I shouldn't give this a second thought; but I am just the kind of person who takes this to heart and lets it bother me.

I don't care if people gave me negative feedback for lulz or jealousy (that would be the best case scenario); I'm just bothered because I don't know what I did...

I suppose that all I can do is apologise to anyone here who I've played with. I usually take the time to send people messages if I've been really bad (for example blowing people up with aboms).

I guess I'm just having a bad run, and I'm sorry to take it out on here Image IPB

37% Preferred or did not submit.

63% avoided me.

I was a teenager when Halo 3 came out and I used to play a lot of COD....so yea. I'm a team player until I start dying alot or get betrayed(accident or not) then everybody is free game.

You don't.
If the system works properly, you simply never meet them again.
Given that most avoids are done by people who QQ over a game, that is a good thing.
Disregard the whining of fools, the world is full of them.

My rep is screwed from Halo:Reach/4. Before I started playing ME MP, my rep was around 70% avoided. Now it's down to 53% avoided, not to bad. I find if you don't leave much for others to kill then some people will quit and avoid you for "unsporting" behavior.

Don't worry, your rep is good compared to most people.
