Gameinformer's Month of DA: I Coverage(Final Update 9/3/13)

The mage Vivienne, casting magic is from DA 2, and in that footage, she can actually set the spell on the walls not just on the ground, that is really awesome improvement to combat!
I just noticed though that they are only showing two handed weapon wielder warriors and mages in their footages, so I don't know if I should worry already but please extend the warrior class weapon choices like in DA:O!!!!
I really liked the dual weapon wielder in dragon age, well in any RPG, but I really like this calss in this game, it feels like roguish but the capability like warriors. hopefully they add that weapon class.

Vivienne's mana soared right on up though. As mentioned, this could change hugely, though.
I really like what I've seen, and I can't wait to see deeper coverage of combat in Inquisition.
Also, Joe Stiksma is cute. There, I said it.

On a different subject I think dodge should be a die roll like a Table Top game.
These things could potentially kill the gameplay for me. It could make me play in storymode.

If their showing stuff like harpoons, I'm interested in seeing other weapons.

Unbelieveabke how many people are already taking assumptions whilst they only showed pre-alpha footage (that is probably just the tip of the iceberg) and the game isn't even remotely finished. They are just probably finding a new balance between DA:O's and DA2's combat and that means trying out new things, adding some stuff and removing some stuff.
Chill out guys
No, no, it's over. CANCEL ALL THE PRE-ORDERS.

Liked being able to put the spells on the wall. Not saying stop all the pre-orders, it's awhile yet.

Is tactical camera in or not? I'm confused on that...

It sounds very much like they're trying to include it, but they're not yet willing to promise it (which suggests they haven't yet implemented it satisfactorily).

Oh, stop. We're allowed to voice our concerns. We're allowed to say we think it's a bad thing (or a bad move, I should say).

I dont know how this works really, but I think tactical camera might destroy framerates, since you see a lot more zoomed out, and as we saw the game is gonna look very good, lots of ... stuff everywhere.
edit: now that i think about it, it shouldnt be much of a problem anyway, since its more open-worldy and therefore trying to limit how much stuff you see with camera angles shouldnt be needed.

It isn't. Some people on the BSN are just opposed to any form of acrobatic manuever because they think it means the game will be too actiony.
God help Bioware if they ever decide to give us the ability to jump.
Is that why we'll never be getting a Jade Empires II?

I didn't realize my flippant comment implied otherwise. Actually, I know it couldn't have, because implication doesn't exist. :innocent:EntropicAngel wrote...

hmmm.. I don't like the harpoon. It just doesn't belong in a Dragon Age game. I think it's a really bad idea and an unnecessary mechanic.

I agree the harpoon seems stupid. Why can't we just use Shield Bash to disorient people, and Taunt to make them move closer?

How do you shield bash someone who has a giant shield in front of them? And if you taunt someone closer, they're still going to have a giant shield in the way of your weapon. If you use something like a grappling hook or "harpoon" to pull them off balance towards you, it's going to make them drop their shield, because that's where most of their weight is. It actually makes sense.

well not probably with an harpoon
I think when Josh said "harpoon", he should have used a different term. It was a hook on the end of a chain that he could throw and use to pull on his enemy with. Grappling hook may have been a better term for it, unless there's an actual weapon name for such a thing.
Edit: Nevermind. Josh said the ability was actually called "harpoon". Maybe they'll change the name of the ability, because it seems to give off the impression of whale hunting, rather than pulling an enemy off balance with a hook and chain.
