(It would be appropriate to acknowledge shinobi602 with the info if copy/pasting from the original thread.)

Can't wait for the next GI update later on today... it says on the site that there will be more discussion about returning characters at some point. Maybe some more Morrigan info...? Might just force myself to stay glued to the site all day...

I dont know the thinking that was behind allowing him start the topic but it's out of order and the mods should've at the least had the decency to allow shinobi602 to re-create his topic

I think all the developers in the video look relaxed.

So, I'm glad about the new look of things
So, all in all, I loved these news, but I'm a bit skeptical about the convenience of Varric returning to the party roster.

Having now read the article, I was really impressed by the ambition of Bioware for Inquisition. From multiple races to large, contrasting environments, they seem to be aiming really high with this game.
Just one fairly minor concern: was anyone else a little worried about the description of the Creeper enemy type in GameInformer? They seem to be very similar to DA2's Assassins, who turned invisible and then suddenly appeared behind your mages and rogues and hit them with a backstab that often resulted in a one hit KO (on higher difficulty levels at least.)
In another interview (or was it from PAX AUS panel?) they refered to them as Nightmare...because they were a nightmare to fight.

I was pleasantly surprised with all this new info, to the point of being excited about Inquistion again -with the little bits of info we had until this, I already had decided not to buy it.
So, I'm glad about the new look of thingsThere is one thing I'm not sure how to feel about, though; Varric as a companion...again? Don't take me wrong, I loved that dwarf -probably the only thing that I really liked from DA2-, but I read from a dev some motnhs ago, and I agreed, that they were not planning on returning companions since it was an artificial way to extend a caharcter's story; hence, they rather create new companions to bring new experiencies (note that I read this months ago, but the fact that this particular dev said the returning companions were not an option remains the same).
So, all in all, I loved these news, but I'm a bit skeptical about the convenience of Varric returning to the party roster.
Varric is DEFINITELY a fan favorite, so there was probably a lot to gain by making him a returning companion.

I disagree with this as this is a new player character so will want a different team or at least give us the option to say no to some companions.
I love Varic but he had his game so time for different companions.

Eh, I'm glad he's back. The last game wasn't exactly good in my opinion, so I'd like to use one of its best contributions to Dragon Age in a hopefully much better Dragon Age game.

I am also glad he is back and i am sure it will be good to do a few missions with him as long as he is not a regular companion.

I don't understand how a new PC will want a different team because Varric was already in DA2. For me, it only depends on his motivations to join the inquisitor and if those are strong enough, then he surely deserves a spot. He knew the Champion of Kirkwall, so at least he knows a lot of important stuff (like the idol, more details of Corypheus,...).
However, I agree that our PC should have the option to make companions leave.

Cullen maybe(hinted), Cassandra maybe(confirmed).
But Captain Chest Hair I imagine would stay with everyone.

Why would Varric want to join the Inquisition?
This is a new organization and we will need companions to work for us and the organization, Varric can help us with convincing the dwarfs so they join with us and help with the fight just like the Wardens and all other groups will need to convince to restore peace.

I understand Varric is a favorite among DA fans. I like him, too; probably one of the best DA characters in my book. It's just that I feel skeptical about his appearence. Makes one thing that they are just using his appeal instead of risk with new writing -yeah, I know; more Varric implies new writing, but a fresh new character is potentially more "new writing"-.

Perhaps him having a bigger role in Inquisition is a good thing and I'll like him a lot more.
I mean, he gets bonus points for being a DA:O character.

I'm not too keen on Cassandra either. She came across as a moron in that terrible anime movie, and the few scenes she had in DA2 was also weird. What kind of interrogator hands over a knife to the prisoner? Made no sense.
Then there is that new mage, Vivienne. I know nothing about this character yet. I don't even know what this character will look like, or its race. This is pretty much a good thing. Bioware needs to bring new life to the Dragon Age franchise after almost smothering it to death with DA2 and a good way to do that is bringing in new companions. I hope Cassandra and Varric will be the only known characters that will be returning as companions.
