Loved what I've seen, but I'm uncertain about what was the part that could tell me : " DAO combat ! " in the video.Zeldrik1389 wrote...
Seems like they did follow what they said, making a mix of DA:O and DA 2's combat system, plus adding some new features (I like the chain hook thing. Pesky archer / mages are always a pain to deal with when I played melee characters). I wish they could've showed us more of party tactic combat though. But they still have about a year to go anyway. More info will eventually come.

But what was that combat presentetion video?
I am a big fan of the series, but i saw the combat-video, and i saw a guy running around of an enemy alone with an xbox pad, and playind Draksiders.
Now what is this?
Didn't he supposed to send in the tank to front of an enemy, and nuke him in the a.ss with a mage, or archer from far above view?
I cant understand why they saying it will have a PC optimized control...
Well its not dragon age at all at this point, it is some console hack and slash.
Ill be patient, it is surely a mistake, or this video wasnt on purpose.
Or maybe...
the game is in pre-alpha?
Yeah, i hope its because the pre alpha stuff.
BUT we said the same "pre alpha thing" at the first Dragon Age 2 videos, and they didn't changed a thing.
I really dont think they left the combat system to the end of development. I am not a developer, but the combat system is the fkin first where i would start developing this kind of a game.
So i am waiting for an official statement where they say, it was a joke, and anyway that wasnt programmed yet.
And they sure need to ask the xbox guy to play it with PC settings for a minute...

That's the current vibe. Not enough info yet though.

Welp, depression kicking in right about now
Maybe wait for a decent video of actual teamplay before you start crying.

The stuff they're showing is hack&slash, but they're talking about tactical full-party control.Rakia Time wrote...

If you listen to the audio with the video off, you get a much different impression of the game.

And if you watch without the audio (as I did the first time), it paints a very, very different picture.

Plus they weren't showing full party combat. It is really annoying how people ask for change, but then complain when they get it. I really like Origins but I do not want to go back to that combat. DA2 did some things better, but it wasn't great. If this game can find a nice middle ground then I'm happy.

I'm so confused! People are on here saying they want different combat styles. And when they get it, they just complain the whole time. Do we really want to go back to origins where their feet were planted in one spot and all they did was stabbed until the enemy died. I think it looks great!

No one ever asked for Hack n' Slash though, maybe the people who never liked DA in the first place did but pretty sure no one else asked for it.

. Even then they actually did show some tactics like attempting to stun them using a hook and get behind them to strike. Its not much different from rogue gameplay anyway.
Who cares? A lot of Hack n' Slashes require that type of tactics as well.
I wouldn't call it fully Hack n' Slash, but definitely has that vibe.

If it looks like a AAA action game aesthetically but plays like a AAA DA:O style semi-turn based rpg, that's ideal. If it actually plays like an aRPG instead, that would be a disappointment. We don't know enough from that, but I'm keeping my hopes up. They're talking about a lot of the right kinds of things.
