I somewhat agree.
Though I, too, am a sucker for the swash and the buckle of that D'Artagnan hat.

I wonder if this means we are goint to get a proper day/night cycle or just the DA2/DA:O version of it....

I saw that too and had the same hope. I don't HATE the idea of DA2's system, but if the game is going to be as massive as it is being promised, visiting each area twice like in DA2 for day and night is going to be a massive time suck. I'd rather the environments naturally shift from day to night, that way there aren't two different maps to sift through.

I agree.
As far as I remember the problem in DA:O and DA2 was related to how lighting was addressed in the games ( something about precalculated lightmaps or something ) so it didn't bother me that much. But I much prefer a "better sense of time passing", I just finished a BG playthrough and my party needed 184 days to deal with Sarevok XD
Also if day/nigth cycle is implemented, may be we get a resting system...inns where you can rent a room.... interesting stuff in my books

E: Scratch that, seems I was misremembering. Stan Woo talked about story-dependant day/night settings and how they were preferable but Stan Woo doesn't even go there (!!!) anymore.

I do like the idea of identifiable night though. Sometimes I'd actually have to go to the save screen to see what time of day it was because the ambient light made it difficult to tell.

If there's a day and night cycle and it's as quick as they usually are, I'll dislike it greatly. If it's slow enough that I only really notice it after fast travel/waiting then it's OK.
So... did Skyrim meet that bill of being okay? I mean, I know you are saying no Zelda, where it can flip from being day to night to day again over the course of one fight.

I think Skyrim was a bit on the quick side as well. Personally I thought the speed of The Witcher was quite good.

Skyrim was OK in general play, but annoying when the specific time was drawn attention to, like if you're shopping in the evening and then closing time hits.
What I'd want is really real time or close to it. Though I guess that would put the travelling out of whack.

The calling of dibs is arguably the sole factor preventing human society from dissolving into a seething chaos of brutish individualism. If we break this tenuous bond restraining the savagery within, what cost will be borne by us all. Future generations could look to this moment, their faces drenched in unwiped tears, asking why? Why did we here on the BSN shatter that sacred covenant?
For the good of us all, I think it should be acknowledged that the hat is mine.
..but what if we have anarchist tendencies?
I see your dibs and raise you a diblet.

From the waist down it doesn't look that bad.
Waist up, however... it's a little too much.

Incidentally, you can change this in Skyrim (for PC at least) using the console. It makes some quests a bit wonky if you make it too fast or too slow, but you can greatly slow it down without harming anything.

I'm pretty sure we've already been told we're getting the DA2 day/night system.
Edit: Incidentally, I'm happy with that system. I'd like to see some actual passage of time when we switch between day and night rather than being able to switch back and forth with no time-based consequences at all, but I prefer this zone-based day-night rather than a dynamic sunrise-sunset system, because those always move too quickly.
