Edit: Incidentally, I'm happy with that system.  I'd like to see some actual passage of time when we switch between day and night rather than being able to switch back and forth with no time-based consequences at all, but I prefer this zone-based day-night rather than a dynamic sunrise-sunset system, because those always move too quickly.

My problem with this is that there are now two maps to comb through. - a Day map and a Night map. If it worked like DA2, there was extra loot, lore and quest interactables, so it was like a brand new map to explore... except the map looked the exact same, so it was like searching the same area twice.

For DA2, this was exasperated by needing to search the same areas twice (day and night) but Al's having to search them again each Act, meaning you'd need to scour the same map of the city SOX DIFFERENT TIMES over the course of the game. Re-used environments aren't my complaint in DA2... but being gamed into searching every nook and cranny of the same six or seven city maps six times over the course of the game is. It's annoying, frustrating and boring.

If there is an active day/night trigger, I'd prefer it not be a totally separate map. It could have different enemies and even different events, but the map should be the same. If you've looted it once, it should stay looted.

It seems people forget that Orlais is about gaudy, over the top outfits. xD

Exactly! "OMG, shoes." - Leliana... or maybe that was Kelly.

I'm looking forward to Orlais, so long as its noted I will cringe (and laugh) if there are codpieces.

Incidentally, you can change this in Skyrim (for PC at least) using the console. It makes some quests a bit wonky if you make it too fast or too slow, but you can greatly slow it down without harming anything.

This! I set mine for half-speed of the default, and while it kinda shrinks Skyrim by doing so, the day and night cycles are longer. Simply avoid extreme settings, and it should play rather smooth.

I imagine this is wholly dependent on how the new engine handles lighting.

xD
And the ridiculous stories Leliana mentioned about live birds in hair should have been enough to alert people to just how over the top these people are. xDD

Well I think when we fast travel we have the option to get there at day or night but as we are on the map it will shift naturally or something close to how Skyrim time shifts. This way if you get a quest that can only be done at night you can do the quest as soon as you get to the area. Of course the issue here is if you take to long to get to the quest point and it turns day, well we all know how the forums work lol.

Duh, you people are so unfashionable. Birds were trendy A WEEK AGO. Damn those Fereldan they have no fashion sense they could at least try to stay tuned to what the trend is.

Right now putting food in your hair is so totally in. Have you seen the Impress ? Her hair last night with all those choux à la crème was so magnificient ! what ? Civil war ? What are you talking about ?

(omg i'm gonna have so much fun with that kind of orlesians <3 )

this makes total sense Fereldan didnt have style thats why they didnt like Orlesian control. Fereldan has no fashion love so they forced Olresians to leave.

Pretty much like Templars. They don't want to seem dull against mages and their luxurous robes.
Now I'm laughing because I'm picturing an orlesian templar in my head

That is what the Fereldans say. Clearly the Orlesians left because they couldn't stand the wet dog scent and the utter lack of fashion appreciation. xDD

According to Brother Genetivi, death watch beetles were once in vogue in Orlais. One lady did try wearing them in her hair.

The music for the first half of that video (some kind of smooth jazz elevator music fusion) was just so hilariously mismatched. Sorry, Sam Keenan. I guess one out of two is a pretty good batting average?

Waiting a year for this game, is going to be.... ridiculously hard. I almost would have rather not known anything about it. they have to give us a demo, or something, SOMETHING that can hold us over. I'm about to pitchfork, and torch my way to some kind of development training, so I can get in on it. NEEDS IT uughhh

Agreed about the music.  The rest of the info was really good though.

Good info today. The interface of the menu shown is the same or very similar to DA2's, I wonder if it's a placeholder.
My only concern is related to the mounts and how the companions will be handled, but I doubt we'll get any info about it soon.
