We don't know yet if Thedosians horses are as intelligent as the mabari.

Good info today. The interface of the menu shown is the same or very similar to DA2's, I wonder if it's a placeholder.
My only concern is related to the mounts and how the companions will be handled, but I doubt we'll get any info about it soon.

This might be handled like SWTOR, they disappear when you mount and repear when you dismount (including auto-dismount because of a combat situation).

Otherwise they need to have them running around on foot (which is just ridiculous) or everyone get a mount...

It was interesting to see he had a full party while the inquisitor was trotting around the desert on his horsy and none of the companions seemed to be following him. I guess it would be nit-picking to hope that they don't just disappear when the player mounts and then reappears as he/she gets off.

edit: Ninja'd by others lol

DAI is looking to be the next CRPG for me, and waiting has already been painful. My hope is that the system I have in place will be capable of handling it at full settings.

Waiting a year for this game, is going to be.... ridiculously hard. I almost would have rather not known anything about it. they have to give us a demo, or something, SOMETHING that can hold us over. I'm about to pitchfork, and torch my way to some kind of development training, so I can get in on it. NEEDS IT uughhh

We should sign up to be game testers for Bioware, would be best job in history <3

I would do it for free... totally free.

Game testing is not as glamourous as it may seem.  Play over the game from earlu bug ridden versions many times.  spend a lot of time documetning bugs.  Play the same areas dozens of times with various builds again to make sure bugs are squashed.  Find new bugs.  Find a bug and then try and duplicate it with many playthroughs of the situation.

So, if I'm understanding Mr. Laidlaw correctly(as he spoke in the video), he would like to maintain the integrity of Bioware's storytelling in future Dragon Age titles. Since truly open-world games might not allow for a story to be at the level of quality/integrity he desires, as of right now he is just trying to make sure Bioware can get back to its roots and be the best that it can be at what they know how to make.

If thats the case, I'm all for it. I hope The Witcher 3 is on his and the rest of the DA team's radar though, because CD Projekt Red is aiming to create a game with a truly open world that also has the level of story integrity and quality that they and Bioware are known for.

If they(CDPR) succeed and The Witcher 3 ends up being a success, I think it would be wise for the DA team to look to it and learn as much as they can so they can use that knowledge going forward.

Maybe then one day we'll see a truly open world Bioware game with a totally kickass story.

I'm up for that.

@azarhal: I hope that everyone gets mounts. I don't like the disappear option too much, though I understand the problem with making mounts for everyone.
@Silentmode: I'd say that the video is not indicative if they'll get mounts or not.

The update is up:

The music for the first half of that video (some kind of smooth jazz elevator music fusion) was just so hilariously mismatched. Sorry, Sam Keenan. I guess one out of two is a pretty good batting average?

I laughed when I heard the music haha. Reminded me of being in a long elevator ride with that sort of music playing.

Anyways, the landscape looks great but I know for fact I am going to get lost. A lot
I'm still wondering how the companions are going to follow the Inquisitor when she/he is on their mount.

*Noted* and totally ok with that. I'm willing to even pay for that oppertunity. I do that with the finished games. I've played through those stories ... so many times.

If I'm building an organization that can't afford four horses, I'm gonna have to seriously question my leadership skills.

Well you could get ponies at half the price and get Varric + your elf friends to accompany you. :D Or you could ask the nice qunari to carry you.

An inquisitor. A horse, a dog, and now a bird. Sounds like a family in DA:I.

What about a carriage for companions? Pulled by a big bronto.
Also if we have a horse does that mean no long skirts for mages due to riding issues?

I don't care if everybody else disappears/the horse vanishes based on context. I can see how people would like it to be more realistic, but it just doesn't seem that important to me, especially when so many problems are solved by doing it the vanishing way.

I'm not going to rage if the companions will disappear when you ride a horse, since I understand that the problem of implementing fours mounts. I'd like to have it though.

On that I completely agree.
