Just spitballin' since that was pretty much the only time I used the tactical camera to aim spells and such in DAO. Could be a decent compromise if there is no way of fully integrating a tactical camera.

Question. If it isn't possible to have an isometric view that you can switch to while exploring, would it be easier for the devs to manage if there was an option to switch to the tactical view only while the game is paused? I have no idea if that would make any difference to how easy the isometric view would be to implement, but it might reduce the burden on the CPU/GPU rather than having a full isometric view?

I belive they said the combat would be more "twitchy". You have to time your attacks and whatsnot. This wouldn`t work too well with isometric view, I think.

I'm pretty sure the official DA:I website confirms the return of the isometric camera unless the 'tactical camera' is something different.

It could easily be something that Bioware was going to use - but scrapped - in the X06 gameplay video for Mass Effect 1.
Start at about 3:41 - .
You'll see that the player can control multiple party members and pause the game to give instructions to each character.
It's very possible that Bioware has given up on the real point & click party based RPG for something else, and we've seen no gameplay to indicate that this is the case.
The practical reality is that the DA:O/DA2 combat is not popular enough to move copies, and all the succesful "RPGs" outside of Bioware have been, without exception, action games, see e.g. Fallout 3, NV, Skyrim, Oblivion, Witcher 1/2, etc. It's all basic variants of the twitch-based action game.

DA never had a "isometric" view, it had a tactical view that you could call "free view" or "distant view", it wasn't isometric
The website does mention that you can switch to a tactical view

Which is funny, because everything I've seen is slower than DA2 was, and still looks to be the same ol' hotkey based combat.

Criticisms regarding stock romances and approval ratings dictating relationships have been looming. Fans should be happy to know that approval ratings are playing a different role this time around. "Previously, we had a lot of the follower content gated by your approval rating. Whereas what we're doing now, we're having a lot more of your content event-driven," Gaider says. "The approval you're at informs the nature of the conversation."

I don't think Skyrim moves copies with its combat. hahaha
Combat in Skyrim is what I imagine having a root canal without any anesthetic would be like. I have yet to consider it particularly enjoyable, even though I like the game.
As for Fallout 3, which I think was mentioned earlier as being twitch-based, I would like to point out that V.A.T.S still exists and that I always made use of it in combat. It wasn't that useful in FO:NV perhaps, but I still made use of it at times. In any case, I wouldn't call either one all that twitchy.

wooing them."
Hmm unsure about this. It is fine lead to tread if by the sounds of it they want to have dialogued doubling up as romance/non-romance.

"BioWare has to scale back on the time spent on the romances in the grander scheme of the project."

Would like further clarification on "scaled back" romances.
It's not a quote from a dev, don't pay attention to it. It probably just mean they didn't got ME2/3 way of having the entire (well almost) cast romanceable...

That sounds like a reiteration of the idea that romances aren't important in the grand scheme of these games (including DAO and 2), not a relative statement with regard to DAO and 2.
The dev comments are basically that, but if gameinformer has the right spin on it, forum rage shall follow.

If I understand that correctly that would solve problem like Anders calling you a Templar lover when you're not , only because you're rival.
In this situation I guess Anders could only be angry with you when you act pro templar.
We'll see ...
It seems like they kept some rival/friendship things like content changing depending on the relationship ...

I think it´s more avoiding what happened in ME2. You did the LM and that was it unless you romanced the character, it was pretty jarring with Jack, as it´s the only way she´ll open up a bit and dial down her anger.
