I'm really glad to hear that they are incorporating some sort of diplomacy!

glad to hear that there's still some room for mages to equip other weapons besides swords.

As far as mages equipping other weapons, slow down. We know that warriors in past games had swords/shields and great swords, rogues with bows and daggers, but mages only really had staves.
He didn't say there'd be more weapons included for mages, just that squaddies should be able to have their weapons switched out with others in their class, meaning Isabella with a bow or Alistair with a great sword.
Nothing on mages with anything other than staves as of yet.

Nice, an expansion to non-combat skills would be great. I would be all over this if this became reality, especially if they concern dialogLPPrince wrote...
Podcast Details-
*Non-combat skills and progression is being explored
*You can level up knowledge in certain subjects like for example nobility, opening up new persuasion options
*Combat abilities having non-combat effects are being explored, such as warriors bashing down doors
*Agents are people who will perform events on your behalf to open up new quests and paths
Am I correct in thinking that the Agents will basicly be the same system as in Assassins Creed? That you can send them on far away missions to retrieve an artifact or something as a sort of mini-game without them actually be a big part of the story?

there needs to be a banter about rogues being the only ones that could lockpick doors when you first bash a door in XD
well...until we reach a reinforced door anyway.
Gonna lol if a warrior repeatedly trying to bash an impossible to breach door gets ridiculed by his/her party.
O.o
this needs to be in-game

well, I'd be happy if mages just got more than one staff weapon style.
like a regular staff for casting and ranged auto-attacks.
and bladed staves for up-close melee combat.
each weapon style would have their own skill tree, just like the other weapon styles.

This podcast was also redundant.
Everything they asked him had already been revealed.
P.S. LPPrince, if i remember correctly, Laildaw said you will be able to make your character look however you want. The only thing that's missing from the details, although it's not a big thing, they announced it at crafting&customization last friday anyway.
Thanks for the trouble though :]
I sat and heard the podcast as well.
P.S. For Mages and weapons, well, they already get heavy armor, and their staves are not quarterstaffs or walking sticks. They are staff-swords, staff-spears etc. But Laildaw said they are still experimenting with that, like, how to use weapons that are exclusive to other classes. He specifically said that it is a maybe, at this point.

Well you wouldn't really want a mage to be in the thick of combat under normal circumstances so I don't really see that happening.

Martial Mages are being hinted. It's just not the majority of Mages that follow that road. You can already equip heavy armor.
Also, as i said, Staves are pointy or bladed anyway, even in DA2 they were like that. So what exactly don't you see happening? It already happened.
Plus, even in DA2, you could stand in the thick of melee without problems with a proper build.

I really don't see why, if a player wants to build a melee-oriented mage, equipped with a bladed staff or sword or whatever, that should be denied to the player.
there will be 3 styles of warrior ( sword and shield, 2h, and dual wield ).
we're assuming there will be at least 2 styles for rogues ( archery and dual wield daggers ).
why should mages be limited to only 1 style? ( and yes, I know that the variety of spells will make up for that ).

Where was it said that mages could wear heavy armor? I must have missed that.
@LP
Now you know the BSN hears that something MIGHT be looked into (not even said that it might happen, but that they will look at it and go from there) and that means that it's coming back. xD

That was a cool part of the podcast. In general I've wanted a way to level up character's knowledge to affect conversations in different ways instead of just having a persuade or intimidate option. That's one of those things where I'd really like to see games evolve, but I won't get my hopes up too much. Whatever they do in that direction could be cool though, and I like how they seem to be thinking.

I love the expansion of the persuade system. I also like how Mike said your Agents have limited resources, meaning you won't be able to unlock everything. It provides more of an incentive to try different paths in additional playthroughs. Not that there was any doubt I'd play Inquisition more than once.
I love that it's based on a knowledge system. Know more about nobility, and you can use that to persuade the nobles (and maybe even those who serve them).

I guess to me, it doesn't make sense as a mage (imo) generally tends to focus on magic boosting skills rather than stamina and health. lol

Who said martial mages are about stamina and health? There are magic ways to protect yourself, there always were. A Dragon Age Mage is not an archetypical D&D Wizard however, people seem to mix the two quite often.
Mages can wear heavy armor, as was said in the crafting and customization panel, which you will be able to see in a video in the next week probably. Their staves even from DA2 were pointy in various ways as well, and Vivienne's staff in a previous video was shown to have a pointy edge, if i remember correctly.
However, no one says that their playstyle will be like a Warrior, no, there will be distinct differences. If you want, a different way to approach melee combat, if you so wish, spell heavy however.
But even if armor is open, weapons at this point are not. Laidlaw said maybe, about having warriors dual wield or mages with more than staves.
What they said exactly was like, you can have your character look however you want, there is not one specific look to a class. Like, you can be a warrior in full plate, or in leather like Conan, and additionally, you can have your Mage wear heavy armor as well, while being able to keep the style how you want.
But, you have to admit, more melee inclined Mages do not seem so strange at this point.
I mean, heavy armor, a bladed staff, Qunari, you know big, tough, well... you get the point.

In that case, it lessens the oddity of a more melee oriented mage, though I will still likely stick to a mostly magical character. Why attack with a bladed stave when I can throw giant fireballs at things? xD

Always loved the suspense
As for the armor, you'll see it soon enough, there is info about it in 2 other threads, the twitter one and the Q&A of PAX, also on ladyinsanity's site, but it's too troublesome to look for it now
