Sometimes my rec. software derps and skips the frames for a few seconds every now and then.

Stranger things have happened.  What do you use to record?

I also should've said the first time around that it was a good watch.  So many Arc Pistol runs nowadays (for valid reasons, sure) that my eyes glaze over when I see another one, so this was a welcome change of pace.

I myself have done quite a lot of arc pistol speedruns and got a bit tired of the Glacier/Cerberus/Drill Arc Pistol. I am trying to see how quick I can go on other maps - may try some other maps too.

I use GTX 680. It causes that issue sometimes although it has never completely messed up my recording.

Based on the numbers, it does as much damage as a black widow when fully charged. A reduction in the damage per shot would be the obvious way to nerf it as you can't make pistol as heavy as snipers or shotguns. Then again, I find the gun to be fine the way it is.

Yeah, I would like to know that too. I'm really surprised by how popular this gun got for solo speedruns. Ever since I mentioned that any character can get sub 20 with the Arc Pistol this thread got flooded with these solos. I'm not complaining though, I love this gun and I'm glad they didn't nerf it.

Huh.  You'd think the older card would be wonkier.  Are you recording to the same drive that Windows/ME3 are installed on?

I'm not of the philosophy that every weapon has to be mathematically equivalent (boo-hiss on Typhoon nerf, Harrier is perfect!), but what niche does the Suppressor fill with the Arc doing 3x headshots?  etc.  I wish we had some info on ME4; my completely ignorant impression is that they learned so much from ME3MP that I'm extra excited for whatever they do with both SP and MP next time around.

There's no denying how good it is, and when you're soloing (and triply so for intentional speed runs) all bets are off.  Personally, every time I try and put something besides the Wraith on a powers-build kit I end up either regretting it or wising up before I even drop.  =P

I don't enjoy any of the charge-mechanic weapons, but that's mostly 'cause I suck at multitasking and I'm not a subtle player at all.  Conversely, the Brophoon and the PPR are two of my favorites, probably 'cause all you gotta do is stand around with the trigger taped down.

Well, not to take anything away from the Arc Pistol, but as long as ammo reserves last, the Suppressor is by far a better anti-infantry gun. I mean sure, it can't OHK shielded stuff, but frankly, who cares about OHK when you have that RoF?

Its main problems are ammo and bosses. The former can be mitigated somewhat with a very good aim and some trigger discipline. The latter is negated by bringing an anti boss secondary (hurricane, CSMG... Take your pick).


The arc pistol gets more love because:

- no ammo problems mean you can aim sloppier. And everyone needs that from time to time.
- bosses problems not so pronounced, as it has good DPS and ammo reserve.
- it seems to somewhat deal better with on host Phantoms. I'm kinda under the impression that some of the shots in the 3-shot charged portion ignore her DR, or something like that... However, the suppressor struggles against them on host, the Arc not so much. and for solo speedruns, this is huge.

This is why I've only barely scraped a few gold solos and can't even get a Platinum with the TGI.  *sigh*

I was trying a Cerberus solo earlier this week and the Nemesiseseseses...the squirrelly things WOULD NOT STAND STILL for headshots.  (I managed to make to to wave 9 before learning a vaulable lesson: Phantoms give precisely zero ****s about Poison Strike.)
