Since the savegame of my Mass Effect 1 playthrough is on the XBOX I sold a year ago on ebay, I am wondering if there is any possibility to "reconstruct" the choices I made? I've read about this I think but I would be very thankful for a link that provides the details.
So how does this exactly work...

You answer questions during an interview process but the amount of choices you can choose is unknown just that you can choose the outcome certain choices will be made for you. I don't think there is an exact link of what can be chosen and what is chosen for you, they are keeping that under wraps.

They have to leave some surprises. You''ll be able able to choose when you start the game.

Thank you for the answer. Will there be any other incentives for importing a savegame in the form of items and the like? Although I hate replaying games I might have to do it this time *sigh*.

Probably not items but if your character was a certain level there might be a stat bonus

In the first hour of the game, you get to "remember" everything major that happened in ME1.
You'll likely miss out on smaller consequences like the Crazy Citadel Fan and other side-quests.

Obviously a lot of choices wont carry over, unless you played ME1.
