Personally I think reviewers giving the game a 6.0 and 7.0 are a bit unfair, especially when reading them. To me, it stems mostly from disappointment and level of hype, instead of giving a genuine perspective. The gameplay is solid, the servers as well, no technical difficulties, no glitches or bugs (at least what I have seen), beautiful and varied environments, varied enemies and great enemy AI. The story is lacking, but it is not crap. If one actually stops and listens to what Ghost is saying and reads up on events, then it is rather genuine in its approach, but I do wonder why Bungie chose this route.
I don't see how a 6 or 7 (both above average scores) are in conflict with what you described.
Most of those reviewers say the game is solid but not spectacular, a fair and decent game. That's perfectly in line with what a 6 or 7 represents.
But then since everyone equates 7 and below to be a big fat fail of a score...
Ugh, **** scores, I'd dance if all reviews would just drop them.

The story is bad, but my issue with people complaining about the story then giving the game a low score mostly for that reason. Why then give Halo 3, Mass Effect 2, Titianfall ect very high scores. Afterall the story complaint seems to major yet many reviews including Gamespot gave games with far worse stories or similar quality extremely high reviews. This is the issues I have with these low scores for Destiny. Destiny is a 7.5/8 in my books. The game has flaws.
-bare-bone story
-Strikes mission while fun are not in unique zones
-Patrol missions(while these don't really bug me this this stuff is a norm in MMO games, it's sad to still see it again and people who don't like MMOs or never played them will dislike it
-lack of a map
-The interesting lore being put on the site instead of being able to check out cards in game
Those are my only issues, and they are very overshadowed the pros for me and how much fun I'm having. People simply fell for the hype despite being told not to swallow it(as you should never do)

Roosterteeth's community is naturally a GOLDMINE for friends who have X1s and are gonna play the Master Chief Collection. BSN has a few as well.
It WILL be glorious. Bungie's past back in full glory, but improved. YES PLS
Bungie's great games, and Halo 4
But I'm definitely going to be up for Halo 2 redone
I'll have to re-adjust to no Assault Rifle though

Not really, Halo 4 had the strongest story in the series, weakest gameplay though. Halo 3 only had one thing good and that was Forge. Everything else was crap, of course trying to fill in the boots Halo and Halo 2 made is hard but dam.

Halo 4 has the worst storyline out of any of them.
Using the incredibly crappy ancient humans lore and a line of boring and forgettable characters like Palmer and Del Rio. The only interesting bit of it was Cortana's rampancy

Well there's Palmer lol
As for Destiny, they have the gameplay locked down. All they need to do now is put more focus on the story and level design

All I have to say people, is that HALO 2 trumps them all.
Halo 2 had the best campaign by far. The Covenant side of the story was great, and all the whole Elites vs Brutes thing was a big twist. When the humans sided with the Elites in the end, the hype for Halo 3 skyrocketed. It's a shame Halo 3 just took all of that and threw it out the window.
CE was definitely the second best campaign. It's the original, and even then, the plot was simple and to the point, yet that didn't keep it from having the awesome plot twists like the flood reveal, and what the Halo's were really meant to do.
Halo 3 was mediocre, the story was ok, but they listened to the fans way too much. They ditched the Arbiter and Covenant civil war because of all the 12 year olds that wanted to only play as the MC. There were still some great moments though, the ending in particular is one of the better endings out there for a trilogy, and the mission design was excellent.
ODST was pretty good, but the plot was pretty meh. At least the characters were well done.
Reach... well Reach was just terrible. In every aspect. Mission design, plot, characters, none of it was good.
Halo 4, good plot, crappy characters with the exception of Cortana and MC (excluding Spartan Ops, they actually did a decent with Lasky, Palmer, Jul and Halsey. Spartan IV's were bad though). Better than Reach, thats for sure.

I would have to disagree.
For the first time in the series, Master Chief became a well rounded character and this was reflected upon through his role as a Spartan and human being. This is strengthened and portrayed through his deeper relationship with Cortana which also improved over the typical partner in combat role and not to forget she herself actually had characterization of her own and is developed and highlighted quite well with the focus on her lifespan which plays an actual role in the story and not simply there to invoke emotions. I can agree on Del Rio, but not on Palmer and not to forget Lasky. What Halo 4 manages to do with them is portray them as actual characters. I would hardly consider them praise worthy, but they exist there and not simply as a means to move the plot.
While I wouldn't go as far as call Halo 4 a masterpiece in terms of its writing, it is indeed better than its predecessors. It is lore friendly, has a coherent narrative structure, a means to move the plot and the characters to drive the story, underlying themes that it puts into premise and develops upon, and the exact style and tone it knows how to handle. Whether one finds it boring or not is entirely subjective. That doesn't make it bad. I enjoyed it quite well.

I'd argue Halo 2 was better, and it was the prime of Halo campaigns.

I personally prefer the human or machine and what makes a person a hero themes hence why I enjoyed Halo 4 story alot more.

Eh, to make a decent enough of a comparison I would need to replay the game. I'd argue that Halo 2 had stronger story structure and more memorable moments that it managed to reflect upon on both sides quite well, but Halo 4 had an overall stronger narrative and characterization not to mention the themes.
But as I said, I should replay the game.

The review that I read gave it an 84 out of 100. The guy enjoyed Destiny alot, but thought that the story mode was lacking and repetitive. He praises the rest though.
It sounded very reasonable.
