The Crucible is by far the most frustrating PvP experience I have ever had in any video game ever.
I just completely suck at it.
Any suggestions?
I am no fan of PvP in general, but I have been able to find enjoyment out of the occasional MP battle, but I would have to agree that Destiny's Crucible is nothing but a seething frustration whenever I try to play it.
This is really odd since the Halo MP was some of the most fun competitive play that I have had; I don't understand how Bungie could fail to make compelling vs. play. Even a carbon copy of Halo's MP would be better than what Destiny currently has, and before anyone asks, no I don't have an issue with the Supers; those are one of the few things that feel 'complete' in the Crucible gameplay.
There is no real teamwork to be found on the Crucible; even on Team specific modes like Control; everyone just casually runs off and does their own thing and the lack of any voice chat only adds to the issue. Even the aforementioned Control modes only have a vague semblance of team based tactics and most matches that I have participated in typically devolve into both teams just chasing each other around the map capturing and re-capturing the three points; no coordinated effort to actually try and defend a point.
The lack in variety of weapons and vehicles is particularly grating to me. The variety in Halo's inventory puts Destiny's to shame; sure the occasional exotic might mix things up, but for the most part everyone is running around with an auto rifle and a shotgun. The vehicle selection is even more lackluster; granted the PvP is not entirely focused around vehicular combat; but there are only 3 (4 if you count the gun turrets on the moon) drivable vehicles in the game and none of them allow more than one player to ride in them. The staple of the Halo franchise (vehicle-wise) was the Warthog and its many variations, yet we see no such thing in Destiny; every drivable item in the game seems to be focused on lone wolf play styles, only further contributing to the lack of cohesion in team play. Where are the team based vehicles? Or utility based ones like flying scouts etc?
Speaking of vehicles, has anyone else noticed that all of the Crucible maps are very, very close quarters? Even the (few) levels that support vehicles seem tiny in comparison to the Halo maps like Blood Gultch or the Spire. This is even more disappointing when every single player has access to a sparrow; I mean why allow us to use the hover bike when the even the larger maps are not even half the size that they were in Halo? The small layout of the levels is another factor in (almost) everyone's preference for the auto rifle and shotgun; its like every match is a game of zombies (a Halo game mode).
But the most frustrating thing about the Crucible has to be the after match rewards. I recently had a game where I killed the entire opposing team with my grenades; they all decided to capture the same point; after which I lead my team to victory, coming in first place by a wide margin. My reward? Nothing. Yet the worst player on our team, the one that joined in half way through the match and then was just AFK the entire game? He gets a Legendary fusion rifle.

I do enjoy Destiny's co-operative elements, but its competive play is an embarrassing step backward from Bungie (IMO).
