The raid is ALL teamwork. No real bullet sponges, just difficult sections necessitating strategies and constant cooperation.
Since we began, I got from level 28 to 29 so I'm feeling stronger for it.

If you're on the Xbox One, we can help you out. We want to do the raid multiple times for the chest loot drops(I'm wearing the Vault of Glass-specific Hunter Cloak and it is boss).
You can complete the Vault of Glass twice a week. If you beat it once, you unlock the "Hard" version which I assume comes with modifiers and such to make it even worse on you. /is afraid
But the raid is fun as all hell so if you ever get the time and can focus on it, definitely go for it.

I lolled, but that patch note also stings a bit.
On a side note, I've gotten 3 Legendary Engrams today, I thought that they had already fixed before I saw that, because 2 of them turned into Legendaries, but alas the 3rd was a rare. I also got my 3rd exotic bounty today, it gave me a choice between Toland's Legacy (which I had already completed...) and the one that I chose (I can't recall the name). Just a bit of a heads up on that so it is known that you can end up with the same exotic bounties.

You need to upgrade your weapons and armor. Like, fully. Also, you'll be better off with legendary gear over rares.
Auto Rifles, Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles, they help.
Shotguns, Hand Cannons, Rocket Launchers, not so much.
We let defkid use a hand cannon because for whatever reason he is king with one in hand, but otherwise we'd absolutely make sure someone put theirs away.
The more shots put down range in the raid, the better. Snipers work because they can tear through the harder enemies.

You will absolutely have a blast. Just come prepared. VERY prepared. Legendaries and Exotics if you can, the right weapon types, upgrades, etc etc. Buy a few ammo replenishes if you need them(I bought some but have never used one, oddly enough). Also, be as high level as you can manage.
Defkid was a 25 to the rest of the team's 27, three 28's, and one 29. That might've had an effect on our success, even with his excellent play.
Now, one of those 28's is a 29. So heeeey

Hence why I need a reliable way to get the materials. if I can get about 50 Shards, my armor is fully upgraded.
I have no ability to play PvP, no really, I've never been able to stay connected a whole match, so that is an absolute nonfactor.
That is why I am lacking in weapons, and buying them from the Vangaurd is a very lengthy process.

If it's the one that you mentioned to me with the "complete 5 Strikes without dying", that'll be for the Invective shotgun (beastly sucker of a gun, lol) - when I did it, I just went through he Devil's Lair (the original one, not the one in the Strike Playlist) 5 times in a row cause that was the easiest to do for me without dying.
Earned Pocket Infinity fusion rifle just a little while ago. The Nightfall for this week was good for that exotic bounty, cause you have to grind 200 fusion rifle kills on a Nightfall map (just stay in the tunnel when you first enter the "kill 3 severators" part, kill as many as you can with your fusion rifle, return to orbit, repeat till you hit 200 kills).
And looks like we'll be getting the Iron Banner event after the Queen's Wrath completes (October 7-14). I'm at least looking forward to it, cause it'll be PvP and at least will be far more interesting to play than endless repeats of previous story missions on Hard "make you chuck your controller at the wall when you get a stupid helmet for the 9th time in a row" difficulty.

Today I had a good day on the game. I finally found a strategy that works a little bit for me on PvP, and I absolutely love the type of skill I've been seeing from randoms on raids. No legendarys yet, but that's not really the point of the game. Naturally, some crappiness is finally showing in the PvP. Unless you bring a friend or two with you, expect to mostly be alone while capturing in control. Half the random teams I'm on seem to be filled with people who think the game mode is TDM. I don't really get it. This isn't COD. Your K/D doesn't matter.

‘Destiny’ Update Will Improve Loot System
According to the post, Destiny players will see almost a complete overhaul to the Engram system in patch 1.0.2. For starters, Legendary Engrams will now be programmed to unlock no worse than a Legendary item, and will still have the possibility of delivering an exotic or ascendant material.
Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
- Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
- Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
- Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items
Activity Changes
- Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards

- Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade

No, you're not the only one, I thought that as well once I hit Rank 1 and saw how much rep was needed for Rank 2. Hopefully the reputation needed for the Iron Banner Ranks is less than the QW rep.

It's definitely possible. At Rank 1 you get 10% extra rep from each bounty completed, and at Rank 2, 20%. I'm at Rank 1 and got something, like, 700 rep yesterday for doing around 9 bounties.

Yeah, although I think you only get the bonus if you're wearing at least one of the shaders, emblems or class items. Certainly the first bounty I turned in after rank 1 before I bought the shader and emblem only gave me the normal 100 rep.

I'm still getting the Hidden 3rd Reward in Strikes
Man this game has such a terrible loot+reward system. I dominated a few rounds in Control with MVP twice and got nothing. Meanwhile, some guy was standing in a corner walking around in circles who later gets rewarded. Awesome. That said, I'm having a lot of fun with it despite some glaring flaws in the game right now.

Likely from farming the loot caves.
I tried that once, ended up with 5 drops (all green) in forty minutes, cried, and gave up.
