Ouch. Well, they didn't say they were going to support this Destiny for ten years, just Destiny in general.
Don't think I'll be getting Destiny 2 simply to show lack of support for the actions of the first. Gotta drive the point home that butchering a game pre-launch and having misleading advertising is not okay. Same deal I'm doing after Mass 3.

This was expected.
The contracts stated they have a game release in the Fall of 2013, 15, and 17(the release was delayed a year), in order to keep to their contract(and thus continue to receive money from Activision to make and improve Destiny) they would need to start production for the second installment right now.

I'm upset by the news, because I was hoping that they would take the time to make Destiny better by attempting to fix what was wrong, maybe starting with making all content going forward more story oriented. The fact that they have started production on a sequel so quickly tells me that they have little to no faith or long term plans for this Destiny video game and it makes it apparent to me that Destiny was a blatant cash grab and is going to be something that they try to shovel out every couple of years.
I think that they are going to be in for a rude awakening when they release Destiny 2, I bet they expect to surpass the numbers that they have sold for this game, but I believe that a lot of people are frustrated and now know better than to fall for their marketing bull, I know that I am at the least.

I see. It still disappoints me, I would have thought that they would have had some sort of clause in the contract stating that if Destiny sold a certain number that they could wait so many years before having to make a sequel, now it just feels like Destiny isn't going to get much support going forward and it is frustrating.

I like Destiny, it's just that they need to fix all the **** wrong with it rather than ship another game.
Bungie, use your logic. I remember the days where Halo on Legendary is pure murder. Ultras would literately laugh as they kick you in the balls and kill you endlessly. Grunts would bicker about who got your boots and such.
I enjoy Destiny, but the difficulty is rather low and the AI is not very smart.
People online are railing against the plan for a game every two years along with not fixing the game that's already out. You're already seeing the, "Destiny is the new Call of Duty" comments.
I bet Bungie's planning to fix the first game's errors by correcting their mistakes in the sequel. That's not gonna work, people won't be happy spending twice as much for what they should've had the first time.
Damn shame.

I agree, though so far Destiny has been well worth it's price of admission, IMO; the Raid alone is a true highlight. The story is still vague and ambiguous enough to be salvaged into something 'good', though it's 100% reasonable to have any doubts.
It's only been 2 months, and atleast Bungie have at times seen the error of their way, eg. Mythoclast nerf. Despite a handful of existing problems that infuriate me to no end (loot system, matchmaking system, loading times, lack of VOIP, everything about Atheon now, Eva Levante, Bungie.net, etc.) it can all be rectified in time, and probably alot sooner than most other MMOs have. Considering I have the expansion pass, I'll be giving it until the end of it's scheduled content to see how things have turned out and will likely be shaping. It is a shame that the foundation isn't stronger for this new IP, but it's by no means a failure in my book, or grounds for condemnation yet.
The game is getting rinsed online, jeeesus. Its kinda funny actually. Destiny's become the John Cena of video games.
Destiny 1 was the most important out of them all though. That's the game that was supposed to establish the universe, characters, and tone, for the series going forward. In that aspect, I think the game failed miserably and it's going to be very difficult for Bungie to convince those of us who traded the game in to have faith in the sequel or even care. It's not that I didn't try to like Destiny, it's that I had to try to like it that was the problem.

The amount of Destiny articles on Eurogamer every week is ****** ridiculous. The people posting in the comments don't even care anymore and just make fun of Eurogamer. I don't know why they have such a hard on for this game. But then again, I don't know why people like John Cena either.

Yeah, people aren't happy. I know how they feel as a long time Bungie fan myself. At least I was able to get $45 for my copy of Destiny. I put that towards Inquisition, which I'm almost certain I will enjoy a lot more.

That is how I think things are going to go. I understand that it is easier to just roll out a sequel with all of the improvements instead of trying to improve what they already have out, but come on, they should attempt to fix it in this one, millions had enough faith in Bungie to go out on the first day/week and buy their new I.P., it would be good of them to fix what they can and try to re-establish some of that lost faith.
The news of a sequel coming this early has made me lose some respect for Bungie and has hurt the business-consumer relationship that existed between the two of us (Bungie and I), I feel that it is unwise of my to trust what they say or show until it is in the final product and/or in my hands (it should have been that way in the first place, but....). As much as I criticize Destiny, I don't do so because I hate it, I do so because I want to see it get better.
I don't have any statistics or such, just instinct, but I'd say that the first two/three months is when a lot of people will decide whether or not to resell/move on or to stick around and it frustrates me that Bungie hasn't made any strides toward improving or adding anything. They should at the very least have gathered consumer feedback and be announcing some new features that players want, as far as I know the expansion fails to even add any of that, it's just more of the same.
I'm just frustrated, I want this to be a great game and succeed, but Bungie keeps dropping the ball and pretty soon they are going to miss their window of opportunity to keep old players and interest new ones.

Absolutely, I measure whether my games are worth the price or not by how many hours I have spent on them, each hour equals $5, I came up with this figure because a two hour movie is close to $10 for me to see in theaters, so I guess what I am saying is that an hour of entertainment is worth $5 to me. I've spent well over 12 hours on Destiny, however, I cannot see myself going through the same grind again in a sequel, because I have already experienced it and wouldn't feel entertained by it. Therefore, Destiny 2 would not be worth the money to me, unless it added a rich story that kept me at the edge of my seat and a wide array of features that were not present in Destiny.
I still haven't done the raid because I don't want to put in the time and risk getting incredibly crappy loot, getting earning good loot entertains me, getting angry because of the terrible RNG System does the opposite.
I just want to see them turn it around, I love good stories and that was what Destiny was lacking. The cards are fantastic sources of lore, but they and/or that lore should have been in the game in full form and because they aren't in the game most players aren't going to know the lore, so I'd say that the cards don't count. Frustrating.
The raid is still broken. Its bugged. Doing the raid before with my team, occasionally someone would not make it through the portals and we were under the assumption that going in slowly would work, or going in one at a time-
Turns out its just the game messing up. I mean get real.

I thought they patched it?
I thought they patched it?
And broke it.
Remember when Cena had the Dr of Thuganomics gimmick? I kinda liked him back then. You'd think I'd have a point with this, but nope, just wanted to mention Thuganomics. Word life.
Lots of agreement here about Destiny though. We've gone over the problems more than a bit so I'll not bring them up again, but for me I rage about these things because for the most part I enjoy playing Destiny and the lore is interesting to me. But I feel like even reading the grimoire it's barely scratching the surface, yet Bungie seems ashamed of it. I honestly don't know if they hid it away on the website because that's all they've got, or because they've gutted the story and background because they think people playing an FPS will hate having a story in the game.
I'm on the fence about buying the DLC until I get solid reviews. I'm definitely not buying Destiny 2: Rise of the Darkness: Redemption of the Light: Refund of the Consumer. Fix your first thing before asking people to pay for the next thing, Bungie.
lol.
I absolutely won't be buying the sequel. Why are they splitting resources on making a sequel when the original base game is so broken and sparse?
Well, to me, it's official. I spent $60 on the world's most pricey beta. Even if the DLC drastically improves things, all that means is that I'm going to be spending money indefinitely to make an unfinished product complete. This is the last time I will ever pay full price for a digital download, if I ever choose to pay full price for any game again. At least EA used a non-intrusive way to make their multiplayer aspect of Mass Effect profitable, and they improved upon their product for "free". Activision and Bungie are the most blatant that I've ever seen a company be with this. It's really insulting, to me.
lol.

This is why people are laughing and basically blowing them off.
