It's basically 'hard' mode. I mean, everything's at LVL32 in the second half of Crota's End. I have my doubts that the heroic modifier will make a difference when the times comes for the actual hard mode... there's a **** ton of Acolytes and Knights in the final area at all times. If it were any more congested than it already is, I'd honestly question what the point of it all would be from a gameplay/challenge point of view.
Only got shards with my Warlock, but was lucky enough to get gauntlets with my Titan on a short playthrough up to the bridge portion. Then I got The Glasshouse helmet from the Nightfall, so, hopefully 31 in the next day with the aid of some Vanguard/Crucible leg armour. Either way I hate the progression gate they've implemented: not only do we need to grind reputation for necessary Vanguard and Crucible gear, but any previous progress made (here! here! the guy who's spent an incredible 600 hours in the past 3 months accumulating) has pretty much been all for naught. Those 600 hours should've been spent over the course of a year or two; I shouldn't have to restart after 3 months, because there's not enough content to justify keeping the level cap at 30.
There's a ton to like about the new expansion: the music, the environments, the multiplayer maps, and even alot of the new gear. But it's painfully obvious Bungie are out of their element as far as making an MMO/RPG goes. Deej constantly patronizing the community, also, is just another cardinal sin they've committed that will lead to Destiny's downfall later on.
