It's basically 'hard' mode. I mean, everything's at LVL32 in the second half of Crota's End. I have my doubts that the heroic modifier will make a difference when the times comes for the actual hard mode... there's a **** ton of Acolytes and Knights in the final area at all times. If it were any more congested than it already is, I'd honestly question what the point of it all would be from a gameplay/challenge point of view.

Only got shards with my Warlock, but was lucky enough to get gauntlets with my Titan on a short playthrough up to the bridge portion. Then I got The Glasshouse helmet from the Nightfall, so, hopefully 31 in the next day with the aid of some Vanguard/Crucible leg armour. Either way I hate the progression gate they've implemented: not only do we need to grind reputation for necessary Vanguard and Crucible gear, but any previous progress made (here! here! the guy who's spent an incredible 600 hours in the past 3 months accumulating) has pretty much been all for naught. Those 600 hours should've been spent over the course of a year or two; I shouldn't have to restart after 3 months, because there's not enough content to justify keeping the level cap at 30.

There's a ton to like about the new expansion: the music, the environments, the multiplayer maps, and even alot of the new gear. But it's painfully obvious Bungie are out of their element as far as making an MMO/RPG goes. Deej constantly patronizing the community, also, is just another cardinal sin they've committed that will lead to Destiny's downfall later on.

I already like the VoG raid gear. I'd rather not have to upgrade endlessly, but if that's required then so be it.

I'm looking forward to buying the DLC though. I hope HoWs is good.

Can't do the weekly strike without the DLC, eh? Well, looks like no exotic for me this week. : /

Honestly, that's BS.

I accessed DLC areas though, like in the bunker.

It is bullshit. Sony's exclusive content was bad enough.

This game gets worse with every update.

The option to buy Materials is so pointless.

Prevents a **** ton of having to farm in the world.

But as much as I like Destiny, now I'm busy being in the boots of a Spartan IV super soldier, seeking to reclaim my lost skill.

I'll just say this. If they don't add a proper story in Destiny 2, I'm about done with the franchise.

Wow, with every 10 pages people get more discontent about this game!

My prediction was true!

I'm surprised people entertain the idea of buying Destiny 2 after the lies spread by Bungie about Destiny 1.

Give it about Destiny 3 for it to be perfect.

I'm giving them one and only one second chance, but I won't be preordering that one.

So, anyone who has the DLC. What's the story content like? Are the three story missions just more three waves while ghost hacks a thing, or are they more interesting? Seeing as I'm not a raider, I'm wondering if the DLC will be worth it for me.

I hear there's less Ghost horde, but nothing special.

Has anyone noticed the Ghost is trying to kill you constantly?

Horde.

Sets off alarms.

Agrees to suicidal requests.

More horde.

Leads you into traps.

You still have to go onto Bungie.net to understand the story, vaguely though, through the Grimoire cards. The in-game missions are basically Eris telling you to go kill stuff because it's EVIL! and, ofcourse, somehow associated with resurrecting Crota. The Raid itself is pretty much the same; Crota also manages to be completely non-unique in appearance. One of my biggest gripes with the enemies in this game is that they have no personality - non of the bosses are villains in the traditional sense; Archon Priest laughs, but that's about it, not one line of dialogue from anything else.

P.S. while Crota's End has an amazing first half of coordination, it's second half is essentially all about doing DPS. So far, Destiny's raids peaked with the Vault of Glass, IMO.

What gets me is that Bungie did a pretty good job making enemies with personality in the Halo games.  And the pre-release material for Destiny all suggested Destiny had a story with a properly fleshed out plot.  WTH happened?  Did that many good people leave the company between then and now.

The main story writer and/or Lead Designer left in March or May of 2014, if I recall correctly.

I think Bungie decided to throw out their work and that sort of porked them.

Or maybe they left because Bungie decided to toss out their work, either way they screwed themselves.

Basically, there were two camps leading the Destiny project.

One side wanted the game to be a space epic, think Halo, Mass Effect, that sort of thing. You still shoot stuff but there's story, depth, etc etc.

The other side wanted something far more simple, arguing that complicating it would drive buyers away.

So while initially and in advertising the game was supposed to be what the former wanted(a space epic), it ended up being changed with the departure of the lead designer to better fit what the latter wanted(just another shooter).

Focus was shifted in development and that is why Destiny is so half-baked.

Also LOL Destiny 2

Naaah tho

Well, sounds like I'll give the DLC a skip then. Got to save my pennies for DA:I DLC after all, and it looks like the story DLC for Shadow of Mordor will be interesting/fun.

I'll probably come back to Destiny at some point, I want to finish getting my Titan and Hunter into legendary/exotic gear. But it'll probably be way down the road. Have fun, people.

Just read the latest strip from Penny Arcade. Still got to wonder why Bungie couldn't muster up the effort for even this level of story.
