They also announced that there will be NO RAID with this dlc. The "Arena" is a 3 man strike/horde mode that is taking it's place instead so I wouldn't be too excited. A couple story missions and pvp maps, 3 exotic weapons and a strike are unfortunately not enough to save this game.
But at least it will have 30 new ships to collect though....

There were two groups that each wanted different things-
Group A=A lore and story heavy shooter/RPG hybrid kinda like Mass Effect, only its Destiny
Group B=Story is too niche for the mass audience we want, it should be kept simple and be more shooter
The guy who had a handle on controlling how things were gonna go was in Group A but he was let go, then after he was gone they shifted from the story direction to the straight up shooter direction. Thats why adverts showed cutscenes and potential storytelling but the game had none of it.

Some, surprisingly. A friend of mine doesn't play it these days but said he will go back to it for the DLC(same as a few other friends I made funnily enough thru Destiny raids).
Myself? Haven't played it since last year. Won't go back to it. Not interested in this franchise after the horrible start. I should count myself lucky as another friend of mine bought my copy of Destiny as a gift so I've technically never spent any money on it but after how the first game turned out I never intend to.
I can't understand how I stuck with the me3 mp for a year, but I loathe this game.

I was hoping for the A game. I should've known better, but I fell for Bungie's brand name.
The only reason I occasionally play it is because I bought it digitally.
Yeah, I had faith that Bungie would nail it again as they did with Halo. WHOOPS.

See, thats what we did back late last year. After a while I started to ask myself if I was having any fun repeatedly doing the raid every week and when I realized I wasn't having fun anymore I *expletive*'d off and I *expletive*'d off for good.
It's not that bad of a game. I still play it occasionally for the pvp, but the rest of it is good too. Just lacks polish.

That's pretty much what my clan and I do, though the last few weeks most of them have been on other games (so have I, plus I've been busy modding ME3) so there hasn't been anyone around to Raid or Nightfall.
At this point, most of us in the clan have all the gear that we want (for me, I have all Crota Raid gear and every exotic weapon/armor, lol) so there's no real incentive for us to play Destiny right now. That said, I hope the Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris content in HoW is substantial for the length of time as players have had to wait for new content in this game.
I watched the trailer the other day, it was pretty cool. I just doubt the DLC will live up to that. Also, with the Queen talking about them feeling her wrath, I'd imagine the Queen's Wrath event will return for the release, maybe. Also, I'd totally be up for romancable Queen. Or let us romance Tess, I've got a special order for her, if you know what I mean. Ok, I'll stop now.
In the end I actually bought the season pass, I used that voucher PSN gave people due to the Christmas DDOS attacks to get it a bit cheaper. I've still not finished all of Dark Below, I just go on occasionally and do a mission or a bounty or two. Hell, I've still not got enough marks to buy armour to get me over level 29!

Its campaign is hardly a campaign at all. Flimsy as hell.
Story? None.
Lore? Readable on "grimoire cards"-only accessible outside of the game itself
Gameplay- Shooter with other mechanics involved at times.
Quests are simple- Go here, wait for door to open, complete
It can be done solo or co-op
MP is PVP standard game modes
Map design is great in MP though
Worth playing- If you think you might enjoy it, sure. You didn't buy into the stupidly immense hype so you have that going for you. Honestly though I'd say its not worth investing time in. The game can be defined in two words-

It has a thin story that is designed to give you just enough to want more, so you'll buy the expansions and sequels. The gameplay mostly revolves around three things: the story mode, which is designed to level you up faster initially, so you won't enter raids or PvP under leveled; a PvP mode that starts out with Domination, TDM, Free for all, and a small team version of Domination. People bring whatever they unlocked in there, so you will spend a good amount of time (namely the majority) facing people with much better stuff than you. They try their best to balance it out, but there is only so much you can do with the abilities that the better weapons and armor have. The last aspect of the game is Raids and Strikes. The Raid is called the Vault of Glass, and it requires five other players. There is a good deal of strategy involved, and you must be willing to spend a lot of time (possibly hours) completing it. The (possible) reward is level 30 armor, which is only obtainable though completing the raid multiple times. The strikes are story missions with varying levels of difficulty, which you choose. The rewards for this, and PvP, are entirely random.
Since you got it for free, I would at least try to beat the story, and try out the other aspects of the game, if you can find people to play with. This game is very discouraging if you play on your own.
