Perhaps
one of my favorite episodes so far and it made me realise that if we
were going to have a sequel to ME3. It might as well be the ME equlivant
where controlShep takes charge.

Jep that's the
reason why I also pointed out the renegade control ending as a possible
candidate for a cool setting for a sequel.

Yes. We can even have the old cast return as villains on Shepard's side, with everyone having new evil outfits (the female characters clothes will especially be revealing characterizing).

Anything but merge is a good setting for a sequel.

Yeah, I really, really don't want to see ME creeping into the cyperpunk genre.

Not because said genre is bad mind you.

 MEU without the Reapers

How is that a bad thing?

MEU without the Reapers. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Mass Relays. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Element Zero. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without the Geth. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Krogan. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Rachni. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Turians. How is that a bad thing?
MEU without Asari. How is that a bad thing?
...

They are all equally important questions. Should I continue?

Each and every major feature makes the game as it is. Removing the Reapers would be the same as removing Asari.

Simple thing - never remove unique races from the game. Add new unique races in addition to existing ones. And the only ending that actually creates a new race is Synthesis (the race of awakened VIs - the ghosts).

Sounds good to me! :wizard:

Don't forget heroism though! We need a very heroic protagonist and plenty of choices and consequences that validate our paragon playstyle and heroism!

Uh no? Removing the Reapers would do nothing but in fact help the seires as it's getting rid of garbage writing.

The Reapers are NOT that important to the MEU, or unique for that matter

Mass Effect could've been a trilogy even without the Reaper plot

Sequel based on Destroy is the worst way to go, because in this case MEU will gain nothing new, and all interesting things about current MEU was already told.

I see only three possible ways to expand MEU that look interesting enough:
- Sequel based on inevitable Synthesis. The most exotic game's atmosphere.
- Prequel about previous Cycle. Also very exotic game's atmosphere.
- Expanding ME3 story by series of non-RPG games. Some survival games like TLoU would be awesome.

Anything else would be very boring (most likely).

P.S. And stop calling new ME game "ME4", please. There will be no "ME4".

All 3 of those options suck and synthesis isn't worth expanding on i would automatically deem ME4 garbage if they choose that for a sequel.

Everything about the Reapers and about the Catalyst is an example of the awesome writing. And I hope BioWare writers will keep doing great job, keeping ME3 and its ending in mind as the reference.

IF "(W)" stands for "Wise Shepard", then what does "Shepard _(W)" mean? "Shepard (Wise Shepard)"?

The catalyst was a revolutionary product of Bioware writing.

The only problem was the length. Other than that, it was great.

Set thousands of years in the future you, the protagonist, have to stop our cycle from creating a new cycle!
