Congrats OP. I have 5 myself, 12 to 1. No bad day can keep you down when you have little ones running out to meet you when you pull in the driveway. Enjoy every minute because life will now seem like its stuck on fast forward.

Well said :)

I have a 5½ year old son. He is crazy about lego star wars, but obviously nowhere near the age of playing Mass Effect. He knows the crew and has walked Shepard around Normandy though. The worm-man (Mordin) is his favourite.:)

Mine is 4 calender months old tomorrow. While he naps, I occasionally grab a PUG gold game or solo grind some challenges.

I'm worried this game is going to be a bad influence though. I think he woke up and saw me playing as the AIU once. I'm worried his first word is now going to be 'scrub'.

^^^ Myself included.

Proud parent of 2, and I play regularly, though my little ones are a bit older than yours. Congratulations on your family's addition, I wish you the best and good health for your baby.

I play on Xbox & ps3, GT & PSN same as username if you ever wanna get a "daddies only" game.

Also congrats on the new addition. It's a blessing to have. It can be rough in the first few weeks but once everything starts to settle you'll find that grove and things will fall into place. May you have good health and a great life for you and your new family.

Just like Clyde... I also am a dad but I have more then two children 6 all together,  but only 2 that aren't teenagers and so that puts playtime during summer on hold until they are in bed or at grandparents home or staying with a friend for a sleepover.
I get more time during winter and spring and fall because of school.

Also with that being said .. I play on the PS3 and my psn id is the same as bsn if you want to get a daddy's game going.

WHAT?!!! Nah, I don't like kids either lol. The only child I love is the one I have. He's 2 years old and likes to watch mommy play :3 Lucky for me he's not whiney and has been sleeping through the night since he was 3 months old. I don't he even think likes other kids. He sees a crying baby he looks at them like they are crazy XD

Thank you all for the kind words and parent tips. :) Glad to see there are other parents who have the time to play video games - kids can take up so much of one's time!

yep!  I know I've been playing too much when my 3 1/2  year old says, "Stop playing your game!"
SHe's still too young for games, but likes to press the buttons on the controller, and not the big green one on the console anymore.

First off, congrats OP! Prepare to smile, laugh, cry, feel proud, feel frustrated, and everything in between— usually in the span of 12 hours, and that's actually "normal." It'll definitely feel more... what's the word, "sane"... once the you and the kidlet establish some semblance of a routine after the first few months. Somehow, expecting that 2am (and 3am, and 5am) wake-up call makes it seem more bearable. Sometimes. lol

I'm the proud mommy of my 3yo Whelpling. She calls this game "Ka-booms"; not at the stage to start playing (yet), but she does like to sit in my lap and watch sometimes. I usually run solo matches and blow stuff up for her and she giggles.

I actually spent the majority of my gaming time in MP because it was ME in quick, bite-sized matches. I'd get matches in during naptimes and feedings (if I wasn't doing them myself). Now that she doesn't take naps anymore, though, my time in MP has dropped drastically again. I'd get other gaming "fixes" by reading Warcraft lore out loud to her while I fed her the bottle back when she was an infant. She's now an avid book lover. Whatever works, right?

A couple of games to suggest for very young kids (~2yo+): "World of Goo" and "FTL: Faster Than Light." You can get both from Steam. The library I work at even has WoG on our Early Learning Station computer, so I know it's fun *and* educational.

Edit: Sign that you're a parent? When I first started typing this post, the last reply was from "1min ago." Now it's 18min. Why? Rampant toddler syndrome. lol

RCongrats OP!!

Being a father for the first time is a Big thing.

Got 3 myself (13 year old teenage son. Hr has a 7 year old little brother and a 5 year old little sister).

Play whenever I can which is only randomly, and this is not always because of my kids. Do have other stuff to attend to in Real life (unfortunately).

Kids are great!!

They do not pee or s..t on the floor (anymore), destroy our plants or chew up my shoes! :-)

And they always do as they are told!!  (...most of the time) :-)

First of all: congratulations on your child!
Hug and love your baby a lot - they grow up so fast.

This first month is chaotic but trust me everything will be alright, especially after your baby starts sleeping all night (and it will happen, fear not).
Funny thing is: even if it is a little chaotic, sometimes I miss that first month. My baby was in my arms almost all the time, maybe that's why he's such an independente little boy now.
Well, you'll probably be playing less now, but it's perfectly possible to be a responsible loving parent and still play vídeo games. All you'll need is routine (I know right now you're living in a non routine world but it'll be possible to have a routine soon). :)
I tend to play after my son is asleep or during nap times. Last year I played a lot of ME Multiplayer this way. Now I prefer playing single player games cause I think it's less time consuming and I feel like I really can control my gaming time.

For me, my few hours of game during a week are really my "me time". This and taking care of my hair and nails keep my sanity and keep me a good mom.

Best of luck to you and your Family.

Congrats on the kid! I'm a stepdad of three. (boys 19 and 16 and a girl 14). My younger stepson rages in COD but doesn't like ME3 so he only plays once in a while. The other two don't game.

Congrats OP. I'm a father of 3, ages 19, 17, and 12 (two girls and a boy). I played PC games and Sega when they were young. I took about a 9 year break from games when they were into ballet, soccer, and baseball. I bought my son an xbox a little over 2 years ago, and then picked up one for myself so we could play the Halo series together. Until I started playing ME3 multiplayer my children maybe heard me drop the f-bomb six times. Now it happens almost daily. WTF? Are you f-ing kidding me? What's wrong with this f-ing store?

Congrats!
Father of a 2 yr old boy here.
Another advice: do not leave discs close to your system. My boy put 3 cds in my ps3. A month of downtime
