no thanks

also, the English language should differenciate between what we (in my language) call an Elfo and a Folletto,

really it would solve a lot of issues

If given a choice, I'd prefer every elf in the game being a direct cut and paste of Orana over a return to "humans with pointy ears"

Sighs....elves have always looked like humans with pointy ears.

Give that alien pointy ears and no nasion and it would like a DA2 elf...minus the tail of course.

Oh and just for reference:

http://tvtropes.org/...rElvesAreBetter

Everything DA2 did with elves is a trope:
  • Human-sized, or sometimes smaller. (Exception: High Elves are usually taller but slimmer, just to emphasize their inherent superiority.)
  • Pointy Ears. The exact pointyness varies. Some favor "Humanlike with a point at the tip", while many works (particularly anime for exaggeration purposes) have thin, triangular ears a foot long, often sticking out at a 90-degree angle from their heads.
  • No facial hair. Period. They don't grow it and never have to shave. This is pervasive to the point a Perma Stubble or beard on an elf would be near mind shatteringly weird. Half-Elves can often grown facial hair to show how inferior they are. If they do, it'll probably be a fashionable, Errol Flynn-esque business. Averted in Dark Elves since all goatees are evil.
  • Lithe and nimble, bordering on Squishy Wizard.
  • Straight and golden-blond or white shoulder length hair, straight dark hair, or flowing red tresses "the colour of autumn leaves" (with that quote) are common. For some reason other colors and curly or kinky hair are rarely seen, unless it's a setting where elves are distinct from humans by having a rainbow of unnatural hair colors, like metallic silver, ruby red, purple, bright blue, pink and green.
  • Anything they make is likewise beautiful, more durable, more delicious, and just plain better than human wares. However, they do sometimes lack a certain creative flair.
The DA2 elves only avoid two tropes on that list. One: they aren't pretty. Two: they don't all have magic. Other than that they fit the trope. Nothing unique about their DA2 design. They follow the typical fantasy elf trope (other than their history of course). End of story.

If DA Elf didn't have pointy ears and lower height and no facial hair they won't be elf but something else, like Kossiths.

If you see at Christmas night a fat old man with a big sack full of presents, 7 reindeers, a sleigh and green robes you call him Santa not mosquito

What language do you speak?  I'm interested to know the difference between the two but I don't have any cultural analogies to draw upon.

Pffff, don't bring your evidence into this!

Seriously, DA2 isn't some unique fountion of elves. Their just ugly humans with awful noses and terriblly slim bodies. Their is a reason Merrill, Fenris and Tallis look nothing like them.

Italian

to give you an idea

Tolkien Elf = elfo
Santa's elf = folletto

Thank you for the clarification, crimzontearz. I love to learn new things. I wonder if the disparity between the two types of elves has a bearing on their rendering in game? Elfo and folleto conjure vastly different mental images and I can't help but wonder if the trouble the artists are having with elves is a result of the conflict.

no problem

but as you can see the English language calls the two creatures the same. we do not

the reverse is often true as well

we have only one word to define Siren and Mermaid...which leads me to think people are gonna be kinda confused when they play the Witcher 3 in italy

This is why I believe we should learn as many languages as possible.  Congratulations on your mastery of the English language BTW.  Sometimes it's more accurate to express something in a language I wasn't born to.  I speak a little French and sometimes that works better than English at getting my point across.  I appreciate the clarification and forever the two words will be distict in my head.

I was lucky enough to go to a school that started teaching me English in 1st grade

yes different languages are more proficient at certain things than others

anyways, DAI should have Elfi....not Folletti

Really? Do not you understand? What's in the DA2 instead of elves showed skinny freaks, with eyes at the temples? Although the elves at LO R E - sexy and attractive?
That is - in your opinion, attractive?
That is - disgusting!

I hope that the developers will never return to this "beauty"!:sick::sick:

I'm not talking about the side characters.

Don't accuse me of thinking their were attractive. And don't call me disgusting again.See? This is what I about people attacking others for having a somewhat different opinion to something, or at least thinking of them as insane for having a different opinion. BSN sucks now.

Fair enough,I'd rather DA elves look like Dark elves or Wood elves instead being bug eyed mutants like they were in DA2.

Agreed. If every elf looked like Merril, Fenris or Tallis I think we'd be in pretty good shape overall.

Answer me this; why should Elves appeal to Human standards for beauty?

When  the game they're in claims that they do.
