I don't typically do this, but it can't hurt to post here. I am looking for some test readers for a book. It's set to be published in mid Fall.

It's a dark fantasy action/adventure. Female protagonist. Numerous side characters. Monsters. Magic. All that good stuff. But it's definitely in need of some viable feedback from people who enjoy that sort of genre.

More information can be found here

Thanks. :)

Am potentionally interested, though I have to admit my preferences with fantasy settings are quite all over the place and not necessarily harmonizing.

So to prevent me signing up and then being of no help because it may just have hit the bad spot, can I get a tad more details?

High or low fantasy? Classical magic (as in magic can do almost everything) or is the concept limited, maybe even explored to some detail throughout the book's world?

What's the general mood meter? More down to earth, cynic, gritty? Or is it more lighthearted, idealistic with comic reliefs, etc.?

I hope those question can be answered without giving away too much. And if it sounds remotely interesting, I'm in. Got time right now and am in need of something to pass the time anyway.

Here's a "back of the book" synopsis provided by my manager.

Image IPB

"To describe Ome as a secluded young woman would be an understatement. The death of her parents has left her without family. A brutal assault has left her unwilling to leave home. Our story's heroine would sooner lock her door and close the blinds than go searching for adventure, let alone a job. All of this changes when cleaning her basement, Ome discovers the etching of a giant face cut into the foundation. As she reaches out to touch the face, she is transported to Lot, an anomalous world where nature and industry struggle to coexist.

Ome, the most crippled of sociophobes, finds herself at the heart of a political struggle between opposing cities - one attacked nightly by violent creatures, the other choking on the pollution of its own technological advances. Members of royalty and military see Ome's arrival as an opportunity to end the war between cities and conspire to use her as leverage.

Ome's desperate scramble to return home finds her at the mercy of military captains, running errands for an unsavory wizard, and befriending a deadly and sinister creature named Wall.

When peace talks between the cities fail and armies prepare for war, Ome abandons her fears and finds her confidence in Grehm - an ancient blade capable of controlling a dangerous, but dormant monster."

Hope that helps. :)

As a fellow Writer, this does look interesting based on the synopsis, and I can't really criticize much, mainly because I've never dabbled too much in larger works, but I will admit the synopsis seems a little bit cliché and the character, at least to me, seems a little bit like a Mary Sue; an ordinary, lonely young woman who's faced the rather ordinary protagonist situation of "Deceased parents" and "Life trauma", but suddenly becomes extremely important to how things go that people have to rely on by sheer chance.

I'd like to give it a read, but first impressions do mean a great deal in some situations, and I will admit my first impression is not all that great. I'm not at all judging or giving opinions on the rest of it, though. I'd like to see how it goes, and if my first impression is proven wrong.

Draft arrived over night just now. Will be starting to red after I came back from a trip to Düsseldorf today, with lots of japanese sweets to keep the energy flowing for reading :wizard:
