So, truth be told, I've never bought a game the day it came out. I've generally been satisfied just getting to a game when I had some extra cash in my wallet, I've never really been hyped about a game.
Well that changed when I discovered Bioware and it's two big IP's, Dragon Age and Mass Effect about a year ago. Now I've become obsessed with both of these franchises and eagerly await Dragon Age's next installment with bainted breath. If not for this one minor concern I'd have already preordered it by now if I could.
Unofortunately, this minor concen has actually begun to seriously nag at me. Since I've always gotten games awhile after their release date, I've always had, at the very least, a handy trail of forum breadcrumbs for fixing any issues that arrise, and if I'm lucky, sometimes even a few patches.
But I won't have either of these things if I get the game as soon as its released. If there's some major glitch that renders me unable to talk to a favorite character the entire game, or crashes the game everytime I enter a major city, there will be no patches, and very few forum posts to help me fix the issue.
What I want to know is how likely it is that one of these major glitches (glitches that can seriously interfere with the overall experience) will occur, and how quickly they're likely to be fixed. I really want to preorder the game, but I don't want to be left with a bitter taste mouth if I'm cut off from a major story segment, or gameplay feature my first run through.
What's the Probability of A Glitch Ruining the Entire Experience?

Just look at what happens with Besthesda and Obsidian games and their bugs (with FO:NV, I'm still irked over that major quicksave bug). Although I doubt it's likely that there will be some sort of game-stopping bug in DA:I, it's still a possibility. You either pre-order and take your chances, or simply wait a while to see what happens.
Note: I have a PC, and I think we get fixes relatively quickly for any problems, so it doesn't bother me too much on the whole. I think it's a bit dicier with consoles.

There is no way to determine whether there will be a major glitch, where that glitch will be encountered by you, whether that glitch ruins the game for you, whether you are the only person to experience said glitch, whether it is a glitch that BioWare considers serious enough to fix, whether that fix is feasible, or whether that fix negatively affects anything else.
BioWare will do what it can to reduce the likelihood of game-breaking bugs, but modern videogames are complex animals with tons of interdependent, sometimes fragile systems, hundreds of thousands of lines of code that has been rewritten and edited many times, and the collaborative work of scores of people, being played on millions of different machines. You simply cannot expect the unexpected, and BioWare simply cannot account for every case.
