I'm going to dance with the devil and say I like Claudia Black and don't like the character of Morrigan. Even in my playthroughs where I'm romancing her she winds up as a bench-warmer more often than not and I just don't relate to her. Sorry, my fault, not the writers.

I think her character was well-written.

As for whether or not I would get along with her... probably not. She's cocky, rude, and borderline sociopathic; I don't make friends with people like that. Reminds me of a few jerks I know in real life.

Morrigan in DAI would kinda be ok. Her son being a recruit would be cool, that is, if her child isn't evil. o.o But I think at least one character from DAO would balance out Bioware's final Dragon Age.

One more thing I like about Morrigan: She has the sexiest voice I've ever heard. Claudia Black is awesome.

I think Morrigan is great, and not nearly as "evil" or "****y" as people say.

This must be the 10000th thread with this particular topic

Which shows that she's a compelling character. I like that she has conflicting character traits which never get "resolved" into something stereotypical. She has a survivalist philosophy (laid on a little thick by the writers), she has her plans which appear to be bigger than herself, and she comes to care for the Warden enough to give him that ring. She's intelligent, cynical, capable and vain. Most of all, I like that she goes through with her plan and doesn't give it up for love, which oddly enough, made my main Warden love her more.

Some resent her for manipulating the Warden. I say: How does it constitute manipulation if nothing I did would've been different had I known everything from the start? The only thing to resent is that she didn't tell you earlier - for among other things, then you'd have known earlier that you die when you kill the archdemon - but I can't really fault her for not considering this Warden might be of the rare kind who would not just go along with her plans but actively support them.

So yeah, I like her quite a bit. Which is not to say I like everything about her. Her philosophy of "people who can't stand up for themselves are better off dead" dangerously skirts the evil at times, but then nobody's perfect, and since she's honest about it it's not a problem for my pragmatic Warden. I imagine there's been debate in her tent about how it isn't exactly pragmatic to refuse to help people even if you lose nothing by it and can get considerable benefits.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I like Morrigan and hope her role in DAI will be as complicated as it was in DAO.

I liked Morrigan's story in DA:O. She was tempting to get to like her, but then started to grow on you as story progressed. Would be interesting to see her and Flemeth conflict appearing in DA:I.

But, holly griffons, what did they do to her looks? Those oversized lips… just lol! Now I’m scary to see what Isabella might look like in DA:I! XD

No... well maybe. *does math* Umm... He'll be in his teens I think. Oh well this is a buzz kill!

Oh yes, she is. :o

Would be interesting to see her and Flemeth conflict appearing in DA:I.

If you mean seeing Flemeth and Morrigan fight over the affection of The Inquisitor that would be insanly kinky and disturbing. I approve. Minotaur +15

Now I’m scary to see what Isabella might look like in DA:I! XD

Pfft, they can't mess up Isabella. Impossibru!

My favorite character from DAO. Sad to see she isn't a part member in DAI. I do hope the role she plays in DAI is big and/or meaningful, and she isn't reduced to an extended cameo (like the ME2 characters in ME3).

I'll second that -- although I did like the others too...with the exception of Leliana ....and Wynne was a bit "too much" for me, as the 48 y/o woman I am, with her "moral preaching". Loved the conversations Morrigan had with Wynne. :D

Shale is another favourite. Loved the humour there.

edit: I've always played as a female, except for one time to check what would happen in "Which Hunt" if he romanced Morrigan ;-)

You hate Leliana?:crying:

Aww, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, Arcane Warrior Mage Hawke. Image IPB
(not trying to make fun of you or anyone, honest truth)

I don't know if "hate" is the right word (in some playthroughs, yes - very much depending on my mood IRL)

I don't know what it is that makes me shiver when talking to Leliana (even the thought of her), I just do.
The big "I'm so sweet and innocent-pretender", I suppose...maybe?
(which is my own feelings regarding her, being a "little-sweet-and-innocent-pretender")

I laughed harshly (again, I'm sorry) when Oghren had his little talk about relief, and she was that "shivering-sweet" girl who talked and talked -forever- about him and Bianca, and it turned out he was talking about a very different thing, that "probably would hit her through the air about now". It's silly and immature, I know, but I couldn't help laughing.

***spolier alert, for people who hasn't played DA2***

I was really disappointed at the end of DA2, to see Cassandra working for her ("Oh noooo!") :pinched:

/end DA2 spoiler

Then again, I kind of feel sorry for her at the same time, so yes I do help her deal with Marjolaine, so "hate" is probably not the right word. I actually don't have a proper word to prescribe her (my feelings of her).

In the first playthrough, I had no knowledge at all about Dragon Age, and I had to tell Leliana that I didn't want a romance with her, 5 times (!!)  which annoyed me a lot!
(and LOL I didn't know why on earth she wouldn't stop, but now I do, since I know how Dragon Age works) ;-)

I guess, since Morrigan is not a romance option for me, playing females, I have a lot more respect for her, also as she is tougher, speaks plain and honest (no "pretender" --- I hope!) :o:lol:

So again, no offense to anyone who likes Leliana. In fact it's good that some people like her. It makes it more interesting, I think. :)  These are just my own feelings of her.

edit: And yes, I do not believe in any Maker/God/Whatever, so that is probably another thing (which annoys me in both the ME-series and Dragon Age, feeling they/BW tries to force it upon me. Well mostly in ME, which is where my BW-experience started). I guess that is another reason for me liking Morrigan, too. ;-)

Oh, and apologies for all my smileys. I'm a smiley-abuser, which can be annoying to some, I know (I do try to limit it, and will probably edit this post to remove some)

@Topic

She was probably one of my favourite characters from DA:O, her squad banter with Alistair was a definite highlight. And she was also my Warden's LI which was kind of funny since they were sort of opposites, made for some funny dialogue though.

Also Claudia Black as VA just makes her that much better. :-)

Feel she's stupid evil.

Hope she's gotten more intelligent (and wise) with age.

I don't mind morally grey but mustache twirling FOR THE POWA gets old quick. Unless it's EXTREMELY hammy (which Morrigan wasn't).

Pretty much.

By DA:I he is maybe around the same age as Connor in DA:O.

Definitely, one of the better Origins characters. Her back story, personality and outlook on life made her an interesting character in the melting pot that is called the Warden's camp, but she wasn't my favorite Origins character; that title belongs to Leliana

I loved her character she made me feel like I was going to gain a great and dark power. Also she made you the dad of a freakin old god a GOD!!! I loved my warden his name was aizen. Anyway what do you want to see from morrigan

1. There is no such thing as the Maker.

Leliana: I'm wondering Morrigan... do you believe in the Maker?
Morrigan: Certainly not. I've no primitive fear of the moon such that I must place my faith in tales so that I may sleep at night.
Leliana: But this can't all be an accident. Spirits, magic, all these wonderous things around us both dark and light. You know these things exist.
Morrigan: The fact of their existence does not presuppose an intelligent design by some absentee father-figure.
Leliana: So it is all random, then? A happy coincidence that we are all here?
Morrigan: Attempting to impose order over chaos is futile. Nature is, by its very nature, chaotic.
Leliana: I don't believe that. I believe we have a purpose. All of us.
Morrigan: Yours, apparently being to bother me.

2. Sharp tongue [ Intelligence ] and confidence

Morrigan: The way you look at him so intently, so hungrily... one would think you have never seen a man before.
Leliana: Where I look is not your concern.
Morrigan: True enough. There is no way I can deny you this... but why would he choose you, when he could have me?
Leliana: You're confident for a woman raised in a swamp, far from anything remotely resembling civilization.
Morrigan: And maybe that is my appeal? A woman like you, why, he could find in any city in Thedas. You think you are cultured? Worldly?
Morrigan: Powdered, perfumed, you ooze elegance, but what man wants a woman who lies limp beneath him, frozen in place by the thought that she might ruin her hair?
Leliana: So you're saying you're wild and uninhibited? I suppose he must like your shrieking, you sound like a genlock being murdered—a sweet, sweet sound to a Grey Warden.
Leliana: You should try a little harder next time he takes you. I don't think they heard you in the Anderfels.
Morrigan: Tsk, tsk, Leliana. Watch your jealousy, or you'll give yourself wrinkles.
Leliana: Get away from me, or I shall have to take drastic measures.
Morrigan: Resorting to violence. And here I thought you were civilized.

3. Passion

Leliana: It's nice to see you two together. Love is such a wonderful thing, isn't it?
Morrigan: What are you talking about? Is this more of your insipidness?
Leliana: I... was talking about you and the Grey Warden. You don't think the rest of us haven't noticed, I hope?
Morrigan: There is nothing to notice. What you call "love" is nothing more than a wishful fancy.
Leliana: Oh, you don't fool me! Deep down inside you must be glad of it.
Morrigan: Let me tell you one thing, and then let us speak of it no more. Love is a weakness. Love is a cancer that grows inside and makes one do foolish things. Love is death. The love you dream of is something that would be more important to one than anything, even life. I know no such love.
Leliana: Oh.
Morrigan: He has chosen me over you. If your hope is that chose something pure and sugary sweet, then you are quite wrong.
Morrigan: What he chose is passion. The respect of equals. Things far more valuable that I'll not speak to you any further. Now begone.

I don't think I want a squadmate that young. Children/teenagers in games tend to be incredibly annoying imo.

She's not just my favorite character of Origins, but very possibly my favorite BioWare character, competing with Mordin. I didn't become as emotionally invested in her as I did with Merrill, Mordin, or Tali, but I respected, admired, and related to her the most by far.

Such an intelligent point of view about Morrigan.

In anycase,

I kinda like her? I guess? I UNDERSTAND her point of view though I do not entirely agree with her. She's too much "I hate everything" to me.

I do like how she's very practical about everything and doesn't add any value to emotions.

She looked/talked a little wierd (visually) in the cinematic trailer, can't really put it, but something about the lips. She looks better in the screenshot from game informer.

Other than that I <3 Morrigan.

she was interesting, that's for sure.

Though i gotta agree she was kind of dumb.

i seriously wish there was the option for a conversation like thus.

Morrigan: so we are helping orphans and the poor now.

Grey Warden: Yes, but try and think Long Term. I'm trying to Stop the Blight, while what i'm doing now seems to do nothing for that goal at the moment, this can aid me down the line. The hungry peasants i feed now could survive and end up enlisting in the army to fight the Darkspawn, as well as speak to others on our behalf, thus aiding us. These Orphans will remember what we have done, they may attempt to Join the Grey Wardens in the Future. Everything i do has consequences, be they good or ill, and i'd like to say helping these poor individuals will end up helping us long term.

Morrigan: i.....hadn't thought of that.

Grey Warden: yes, but your were taught survival, which more often than not means thinking short term gains, but more often than not, long term reactions are far more effective. Keeping a Peasant or Orphan from Starving can have a much larger effect then you realize.
