How do you imagine they would harvest the Catalyst?

By the end of ME3, I no longer considered the Reapers 'independent nations'. It's clear the image of the Reapers changed as the trilogy progressed, and they had to be servants in ME3 for the final reveal. So, in other words, I don't believe the Reapers would ever have rebelled against the Catalyst - the few times you've talked to one (after Sovereign), they always seem to serve their purpose faithfully.Karlone123 wrote...

I do not know. They harvested the AIs from Javik's cycle. The Metacron or whatever they are called.

You could still do it, it might hurt and you'll probably bang your head but you still do it, plus Hannibal did it.The Reapers do not discriminate when it comes to harvesting.

Oh, but they do, very much so. They take special care not to harvest a species unless it's advanced to a certain level. And they do so because they serve the Catalyst's purpose. I don't see any reason they would go against that - especially since (as LilReaper says), the Catalyst is the mind behind the operation. The Reapers themselves are simply tools.

As much I dislike the Catalyst idea that took some of the seriousness out of the Reapers, it claims it controls the Reapers even though the Reapers claim they are fully independent, or at least independent enough. Does the Catalyst actually control them in the way of giving orders? I still think until a certain time, the Reapers would have rebelled against the Catalyst and attempted to harvest it.
Your first and most important mistake was trying to make head or tail of crappy writing which disregards everything that's in ME1.
Don't try and reconcile the details of the 3 games, it's an exercise in futility given that the detail is riddled with contradictions and plot holes.

I guess this is what happens when you leave it up to two people to write an ending. I'll never get over the fact on how ME2 was made irrelevant now that the details of the Reapers has been completely changed. I hope this is the last time we see the Reapers, I do not think I could take another rewrite into making the Reapers a joke.billy the squid wrote...

ME2 was always irrelevant. Harbinger even said so after the Suicide Mission. I guess you just didn't take that literally.
I thought Harbinger was just panicking and started saying random stuff.

Btw, the kid also states the first Reapers where against the idea... (and we all listens to, and obey the kid, right, right?)

Well, if the Catalyst would give the Reapers free will (still keeping them under full control), and if the Reapers would have different point of view on some matter (still remaining under the Catalyst's full control), and if the Reapers would have any means to affect the Catalyst - then maybe.

They apparently know it exists, since they moved it from some unknown location to the Citadel according to the Prothean VI, and again moved the Citadel to protect it from the Crucible in the game itself. That they didn't destroy it instead, which would remove all threat of the Crucible being used at all, would suggest that either they are incapable of destroying it because of the control it has over them, or they choose not to because they value it's purpose.

Considering how Sovereign acted, they have a pretty flexible range of freedom. He hated organic life. I bet if the Catalyst didn't control him he would be all for exterminating all life advanced or not.
yeah, that Sovereign guy is pretty interesting. Reminds me of another badie.
