My favorite mass effect is Mass Effect 1 for many reasons and i feel like it was the best one but not the best one in every area of the game and there were things in both mass effect 2 and 3 that i liked that 1 didn't have and needed so in my opinion take mass effect 1 and add the best things of ME 2 and 3 had to offer that 1 didnt have or needed and youll have the best Mass Effect game to date. More is always better and make it less linear and more open world like in mass effect 1 and put the original looting system of 1back in, the customization of yours and your squadmates weapons and armor, needing to acquire licenses to obtain newer weapons, armor, and equipment, the option to pick what omni tool or bio amp to use, being able to choose your squadmates armor, being able to explore planets by vehicle or foot, and more but these are just some of the simple great little things about mass effect 1 that was lost in 2 and 3 and needs to come back.
Now the story how about starting the next mass effect years after the reaper invasion and depending on how many years after bioware could decide on Shepard or any of the crew coming back and even add new characters too. This time around though let players choose between more then just male or female Shepard and maybe give us more then just one character to choose from instead just like bioware did in dragon age orgins with the player being able to choose human , elf, or dwarf and depending on what you choose each character had its own story one way or another with only some parts of the story being alike. Now if they also wanted they could include a son or daughter Shepard because I do recall in certain romances like the Liara romance you guys do have a romantic scene a the very end of mass effect 3 before the ending so it is possiable to somehow creat a mass effect with a son or daughter Shepard if bioware wanted.
Now about enemies and conflict how about bioware introducing some new species and good or bad don't matter and how about the next mass effect be about conflict with the yahg species and planet since they are smart enough to be a threat as we saw with the shadow broker in mass effect 2. The yahg would be a perfect threat and enemy and still fit within the lore of mass effect. Plus bioware can bring in new species this way maybe make a new friendly species and make one bad species to back the yahg in this new conflict and battle. Also this may be the bigger threat and main story but you still have old enemies and threats to deal with on the side while dealing with the bigger threat and conflict with the yahg and whatever other species is backing them.
This maybe a great idea but also I wish they somehow brought back the protheans thought cloning of Jarvik or tank breeding like they did and do with the krogan with Grunt being an example. I love Javik and think the protheans coming back would great for mass effect and very possiable. Btw I love coop and believe mass effect has done well with its coop multiplayer and should stick with it but also give single player a coop mode. Since it would be great to allow a friend to take control of one of my squadmates while me the host controls the story and makes the choices since I'm the main character. A coop mode can easily be done this way and work just fine right away. Now there is mor that can be done with coop bu it would take longer and require more changes then just letting players control and choosing from one of the hosts squadmates.
If possiable it would be awesome to have a mass effect game where you can go and recruit other real world players to join you and be your squadmates to take on missions and even make your own decisions like leaving, following an order or decision, or even betraying the other player during a mission but that would be one huge game and don't even know if it can be done without becoming an MMO which I don't like the current style of MMO games and prefer normal games and multiplayer over an MMO .
How I hope the next mass effect game will be like and about.....

IMO, (as i said more than one year ago), i wish the next ME (trilogie?) will keep what made ME awesome: exploration, meeting awesome characters, making friends, ennemys, impacting civilisation and blablabla; all that while using the ME3 ending as a starting point to legitimate the franchise.
The ME3 ending (doesn't matter if you hate or love it), left 1 thing that could help build a whole new ME game; due to reaper cycles, it wasn't possible for any living races to evolve more than 50k years, so what if there is contact with other races from another galaxy ? they would have more advanced technologie and "powers" (due to absence of reapers, some races could be millions years old), they could have bigger threat than reapers (we could become ally with some, fight some other) and so on.
If they decide to make a spin off or prequel instead of sequel, i wouldn't be hyped that much. It doesn't mean i wouldn't buy the game; but instead of a "wanna play it on day one !" like other ME games, it would be "mmmyhea.... may be if i get bored and nothing better comes out for a while".
If i'm not mistaken the new ME game do not have an official lead writer yet, so many things can still change i guess.
Anyway, i must admite that after how ME3 ends, i'm no too exited to hear from this new ME game soon, as it could turn to be even worse than where ME3 left the franchise reputation (not something that i wish, i just, lost a great deal of confidence in Bioware).

I agree about the absence of the reapers being a good thing and pretty much most of what you said but no matter what they do i still have hope for another game or series with some characters from the old mass effect. Also but depending on how far in the future the next game would be about i is possiable since Asari live 1000 years and other species like the krogan live long also but for other species there's always other ways with technologly always advancing and there is reproduction lol.
Then again they don't have to include anyone from the last mass effect series even though I would like to see some of the squadmates back including Shepard since I think there's still a lot more they can do with him and some of the other squadmates and always hoped they'd release a mass effect that allowed us to control the squadmates too as either a main character or its through a coop mode. Either way I'm sure they'll have new species in the next mass effect but until then ill be waiting for Dragon Age 3 and I hope Bioware delivers on what they are promising because I know they can but will they?
Furthermore I still think the yahg would be a perfect enemy and threat for a mass effect game or series if they become more advanced and they already have the size and intimidation factor and can be really smart compared to a krogan so they would a big threat. What if there was more to the relationship between the shadow broker and the collectors and in fact he was taking the technology and everything else he learned and using it to make the yahg from his planet stronger and more advanced so that they could become strong enough to go to war with the council and every other species they dislike. That would be possible and believable and there's the possibility of there being other species in dark space that we didn't know about and becoming a threat or Allie of the yahg and they were in fact respondable for sun/stars dying out sooner then they should and some kind of plot for power for war. I only say this because in mass effect 2 you find tali trying to find out why the sun on haestorm is dying so fast and shouldn't be and later find out that its not the only one and that its dark matter that's killing the suns. So bioware could work with this and use It in the next mass effect as something done by a new species from dark space and make the yahg an Allie of this new species since they dislike every other species. Maybe it's a bi much bu I still think it something they could use and make a good series about.

I agree with most of the original post, post-sheperd trilogy, new character, origins style backstorys, and return of co-op but I think there are few things I disagree with. I doubt the Yahg will be the main enemy, a story element likely, but I think it would be best if Bioware started with a completely fresh story. It helps bring in new customers who wouldn't have played the original, and it doesn't make it feel like they're rehashing the same-old-same-old. Same in regards of the Haestrom plot. It was a damn shame it was dropped, and now that you mention, there should be a quest that tells us whatever the hell that was about, but not the main focus of the game.
Anyway, for the new trilogy, I just hope to god they don't try to top the Reapers in terms of threat level. They futzed the ball on the incomprehensible evil thing when they finally showed up and turned out to have the reasoning capability of calculators. If they are starting fresh, they should have a brand new villian/evil, but have it on the scale of sentient life, whether it be a rogue (Saren Style) an organization or military, or secret society/conspiracy (like the Shadow Broker).
The biggest question for me is time, as the Mass Effect Universe has no concept of it. Putting aside the length of the Reaper Cycles, and all the number of questions you can ask about how long sentient life would take to evolve, there's the fact that aliens who live for millennia, who have possessed faster-than-light travel for even more millennia, long before the humans invented fire, could then be seriously threatened and or bullied by said species the moment they appear on the galactic stage, and then offer them a seat on their very selective government. So the time difference could be anywhere from five years, twenty, a hundred, or a thousand.
That said, I have the feeling that it won't be set too far from the Sheperd Trilogy (a hundred at most) so that we can still see some old faces (Liara and Wrex would be a guarantee anyway, so why limit yourself?)

This is gonna be kind of off topic but i have an imporant question. I heard that only 25 percent of the original team that made mass effect was involved in the making of mass effect 3. Anyone hear about this because I was wondering if it was true?
Btw I don't really want a new story without shepard but if it does end up to be a completely new story I hope it's a story that starts right after the end of the reapers. This shouldn't be a problem and it does mention in the ending of mass effect 3 that with time everything would be back to normal and be rebuilt so it would be easy for bioware to start a new story in the near or far future. I rather have this then a prequel really because prequel aren't usually great. So they either continue with Shepard and some of the others in a new story starting after the end of the reapers or they just come out with a completely new story with a different hero, characters, and so on but staring in the future with Shepard and anyone from the old mass effect gone. But depending on how far into the future there could be cameo appearances from characters of Asari or krogan descent since they live for like 1000 years but I doubt this would happen if thy made a completely new story/game.
