I doubt I could've found a better way to put it....I can't see Hawke playing a major role in Inquisition. But it doesn't change that I like Hawke. Playing as Hawke was something different than playing as the big hero who saves the world.
No lamp posts involved? How so?!The Warden: He died twirling his pike.

Or...are you saying that the epilogue counts as headcanon?
Some people also headcanon the epilogues. If Hawke romanced Isabela in DA2, it's mentioned that they remained together afterwards... but doing what? For how long? Some people claim that means they went sailing off on Isabela's new ship, and why would Hawke ever leave her side for even a single minute? We contradict that by saying Hawke disappeared and suddenly it's a clash with headcanon-- despite "Hawke remains with Isabela forever" not being a choice we offered.
At any rate, I'm not going to get into a big discussion about it. We realize some people are very precious about their PC's, and we're not apt to go out of our way to have them do things that violate headcanon... but they obviously did something, and that involves a plot that may not be what someone had in mind. Just be aware.

I know you're the "Hero Collector of Thedas" real secret end-game boss in Inqusition Gaider. I'm calling it now.

Just please say what they did, and if they're separated from friends and loved ones, give it context (mainly: is it permanent?).David Gaider wrote...

And don't kill them offscreen (or even onscreen, preferably). Death happens to everyone eventually, so I don't think there's cause to force it on our past characters in any place we have to see it unfold (unless you come up with some epic story point that simply demands it—but it damn well better be epic in that case!).
But please do say something.

I don't want either in as party members, but they will have to be in the game in some capacity, it would be ridiculous if they weren't.

I'm happy to see Mr. Gaider defending the use of these characters as NPCs. This is perfectly fine for me and if I get to see them participating as heroes in the story and they are given appropriately epic roles, then even better.

I think it would be best if we prepare for the ridiculous. At least they won't all be wearing the same clothes that they start out with. Hopefully.

If you want something more than 2-d cookie cutter characters, you have to give Bioware some creative freedom when it comes to crafting characters and story. Yes, we have choice. But let's be reasonable.
So, I hope the Warden and Hawk show up in DAI. Whether as a cameo or whatever. I wouldn't mind if they are acting different than from where I left them as long as it makes sense and is explained storywise. With that said, I can't wait for DAI!

My warden is doing wander stuff, while leliana is away in orlais poisoning people.. eating cake..forgetting she's taken.
My Hawke magically forgot she's the champion and she's sailing the seas with Isabela.

Please no. I don't want any former PC anywhere near DA:I. BioWare already screwed up Reven and the Exile in TOR, I don't want them doing the same for the Warden and Hawke (though my Warden's dead).
Can't really pin that one on Bioware. LucasArts wanted an MMO. $$$

I'm dead-set against this for so many reasons.
Well, their disappearance is an intrical part of the story, as shown at the end of DA2. It would be anticlimatic if they didn't at least pop in. A lot of fans want it. But what are the many reasons? I'm curious.

If the Warden isn't with Morrigan at all, in the entirety of the time she's there, despite going through the Eluvian with her, I'm sure a few people will take issue.
Personally, I don't mind if you add more depth to my character. He'd be older and wiser. And he's a father now. So that's what matters.

An opinion you don't really see much here in BSN.
I like it.

Yeah. Bioware started it, so they should finish it. I would have been find if their stories concluded in their respective games.

But speaking from my own opinion I would like to hear something about our previous characters even if we find out our Warden got killed or our Hawke was violently murdered...
We could write our own epithat on our Warden's tombstone. The Warden: He died twirling his pike.
The Warden got killed because he couldn't voice his disinterest towards the enemy that he didn't want to fight another war.

I wouldn't necessarily want them as a party member, although it would be cool if they teamed up with you for a brief mission. People shouldn't expect them to act the same as they did in DAO and DA2. People change. No one on this board is the same person they were 7-10 years ago. Man, i think of all the things that have just happened over the last five years in my own life. People mature, beliefs can change, thoughts, experiences, all that shapes up people.

Hawke died in a bar fight with a female dwarf, whom he claimed "didn't exist." If only he had chosen a more humorous tone...

And I can see a Warden/Hawke cameo working in which Hawke does all the talking. I think it's canonically stated a couple times, that no matter how you player him/her the Warden's a man/woman of few words.

I can see them maybe becoming assets, if there were an Asset based system like ME3. Give them a brief cameo, then never see them again except for some numbers on your screen. That could work, and you're still technically "recruiting them".

Would they really be "assets," though? Ferelden is returning in DAI, but it's UNLIKELY that either one of these two characters has been there in at least 10 years. And it's even more unlikely that they have EVER been to Orlais. Besides, Hawke is "better" (or just adequate) at dealing with local matters in Kirkwall. If you gave Hawke something international to deal with, we might all be screwed.
