I'm not interested in being a Qunari but nothing against those who wanted it.
Sadly I expect 10 Qunari threads to be started in the next 5 minutes.

Qunari society is not pure patriarchy or matriarchy. Inside it is controlled mostly by women (who do all the government work), outside is controlled by men (militairy)Plaintiff wrote...
Actually, Thedosians absolutely allow their women to fight, you see them in the army at Ostagar and in the City Guard in Kirkwall. And the folklore of Thedas has at least two prominent female warrior-figures, Andraste and Aveline.Don't forget that most of thedas is currently in a dark age like period where "a wizard did it" is a valid excuse in a court of law and woman aren't allowed to fight because men have a penis and woman have a vagina.
Qunari are the ones that force females into domestic roles, and if you paid any attention to Sten in DA:O, or the Arishok in DA2, you'd know that.

Does this mean it's the race we're playing as or someone who is part of the religion?
Pretty sure it's the race, though, I'm sure if we wanted to preach the Qun, we could do that too. Similar to how we can do that about Andraste.

Screw the qunari. They're as much enemies of Thedas as the darkspawn, and playing as one of them would be highly illogical.
That's simply not so.
The Qun, as a religion and a society, may be oppressive and you may find it destructive and evil, but it is separate from the Qunari (or Kossith) who live within it.
Many of the same things could be said about the Chantry, but you don't think that humans are evil because of the Chantry do you? Of course not, because that would be absurd.
Especially as a Tal'Vashoth, you would be someone who has rejected the Qun and the Qunari way of life. You may look like them, but for someone to judge you an "enemy of Thedas" simply because you look like some other people they don't like... well, that's just weak-mindedly simplistic and prejudicial.

So does China. Wanna move there?Qunari are frankly the most logical people on all of thedas. They belive in the greater good, and the collective good of the qunari people over personal freedom and choice.
I think Plaintiff and EmperorSahlertz here are understating the severity of the situation in Quanari society. It is a MUCH more severe expression of society-over-individual than even China, especially modern China, which has evolved essentially into a rather complex single-party, capitalist, semi-democracy.
While, yes, you could say that the Qunari believe in the collective good, I think most people would say that the restriction of personal freedom in Quanri society seems to be so severe that it's difficult to call it the collective good anymore. It's less about good and more about the simple survival of it's people for practical purposes that have nothing to do with their happiness.
Usually when we talk about the "greater good" we mean "benefitting more
individuals". With the Quanari, however, it seems to mean something
more like "benefitting society INSTEAD of individuals". They appear to run things in a way that is good for their SOCIETY, yes, in that their society survives and grows, but I'm not sure I'd say that benefitting the society INSTEAD of it's people is a worthy goal. A society is not a person and can be likened to one only metaphorically. It cannot actually be happy, and it does not have emotions or aspirations beyond those of the person(s) directing its actions.

I wouldn't want to play as Kossith because like I said before I would have a very hard time believing that one would even be interested in saving people outside of the Q'un.
Hmm, interesting. I don't have a hard time believing that at all, actually. If they've fled the Qun they clearly have something against it -- and it could very well be that they simply didn't want to trample other people any more. Any Qunari who leaves their society probably has an extremely compelling internal reason for doing so, and freedom and conscience are two of the very most obvious I can imagine.

Are horns optional? I want them but maybe later I will want to have one without just as people like beardless dwarves (who in DA universe are the best: Varric, Sandal, Sigrun).
Also, Thrawn's a Gary Stu.

They're taught to fight, but it is not their speciality. It's like an additional option since everyone has to know how to defend themselvesXsari Rose wrote...

In the comics there was a female qun and she was a fighter. I forgot her name.
Edit: and she was a Kossith.

I don't think "allowed" is quite right. For the qunari, at least those we have met, there's not really such thing as desire beyond their assigned role in life. Warriors are male simply because they see it as more efficient that way. They're not "allowed" to fight in the same way fish aren't allowed to skateboard.Xsari Rose wrote...

Presumably Ben-Hassrath has a different skill set to warrior, that includes subterfuge as well as combat and so the same criteria don't apply. It's also reasonable to assume they have different rules for viddathari. That it's unlikely they would assign a newly converted lifelong warrior to a desk job simply because she was a woman.

What part of it do you consider unrealistic? (aside from being a fictional race in a fantasy universe and all)AmRMa wrote...
No, to unrealistic for me. Might create one in character creator to check it out but not really interested in playing one.
