For instance if I want to keep my romance with Ashley or Liara, I can, BUT, being the type of player that I am, paragon 100%, I always like being as nice as possible to all my squadmates, not to mention you might have paragon responses sometimes....

But, if it's like in ME1, where if you were nice to Ashley or Liara, it'd just turn into a romance with the new squadmates, and I'd be screwed lol. Any way to remedy this? Or any dev comment on it yet?

Well looking at the squadmates they might actually not respond to Paragon choices. Also both Ash and Liara gave you opportunities to shoot them down, I'm sure the new squadmates will as well you just gotta look out for it. If you had a romance in ME you might even be able to bring up "I Love so-and-so."

Yeah, I really hope the game doesn't do another in-your-face romance like Liara's. I hated the way they did that. I thought I was just being nice and BAM her and Kaidan were telling me to make a choice.

But considering the "cheating" factor this time, they would have to give you a clear chance to say no. Or you could just be a jerk.

You know, I'm pretty sure that you don't get renegade points for saying "I just wanna be friends."

I am pretty sure you should be able to refuse and say no thanks, Miranda.

But show me them ****** for the road.

It was fairly obvious in ME1 when they asked the equivalent of, "Is this going anywhere?"

I actually found it quite hard to avoid, which is why I wanted at least a line of dialog to suggest my Shepard was gay and sever the romances.

Like when Ashley asks if you want to drink with her, one option was just 'sure', which I selected and if memory serves my Shepard then said something flirty to her. I do like the cinematic dialog system but sometimes it was hard to predict what you were actually going to say from the options.

Yeah, in one of my playthroughs, I was just being nice and, the next thing I knew, Shepard was doing the horizontal tango with Liara while I was trying to figure out exactly when the two of them had become an item.

Ashley's romance is a ninja romance. You're being nice with her one second, then she asks you if you can handle the baggage. I was like "Wait.. wut? NOOO!".

All the conversation options don't make you shoot it down, either. It all leads to the romance.

Don't you guys read the conversations? Liara states somewhere in the beginning that she feels something between you, and there you can choose to deny every little bit of romantic feelings between you.

I hate having to miss out on dialogue with Ashley because she makes me pick between them. Why can't she be as understanding as Leliana?

I wonder, do any of you pay any attention to the dialogue? Liara asks straight out whether you think that there is anything between the two of you.

It's not hard to avoid the romances.

Yes it is hard, or maybe I just didn't say it right, but I tried to romance Ash, tell Lira she's nice but I like Ash, blah blah.  I still have them both coming to me at the end saying which one you want big boy.

It was better in Dragon Age, so hopefully the teams have learnt from each other and the process will be a bit more explicit this time. No more ninja romances.

Dragon Age is only better if you don't have Zefran, that guy will hump anything...

In my latest play-through, I accidentally told Liara i just wanted to be friends and quick saved on full auto pilot, realizing what I had done a fraction of a second too late.

Now I'm stuck with that religious, militaristic would-vote-on-Mcain Ashley. And she doesn't even look great.
I will get rid of her and make happy times with Miranda, who I'm predicting really isn't a bad person. And even if she proves to be religious and militaristic, she's physically perfect. Oh yes.

EDIT: Speaking of physically perfect, lacking a real life pic I can show you guys, check out the sexy Dragon Age me.:police:
EDIT2: Why isn't my edit showing up?

I find it odd that you didn't mention xenophobe, most ashley haters call her a xenophobe.

Going renegade it was real easy to avoid the romances in the first one but it seems like some of the potential LIs in the 2nd might respond well to you being a jerk based on what little they've shown in the videos.

ME1 SPOILER ALERT!!!  For some it was easy, for others it was hard.  For the Paragon male that I'm taking into ME2 it was very hard.  I didn't want a romance, but I didn't want to kill Ashley or be a jerk to her either.  So I told Liara we're just friends, and I did my best to stay away from the options that say me and Ashley are a couple.  That said though, if you keep being nice to Ashley it does seem that the game forces that you and Ashley are interested in eachother.  That was obvious to me when she said the line about my Shepard taking her, baggage and all.  The only thing I could do, while staying in character to try and avoid the "romance", was to not sleep with her when she confronts you before Illos.  Even doing that, it still sounds like the two are a couple just off the basis of some conversations where literally every option outside of being a douche, had my Shepard forced flirting with her.  So I can only hope that in ME2 by not having sex with her that she doesn't consider it a relationship.  Still I'm very doubtful in that regard.  That said, I hope in ME2 you can be a lot more straight up about being or not being interested in somebody.
