I'm doing a replay and I just did the quest where you recruit Merrill (and revive Flemeth via her amulet). I've gone back to the city now and there's a conversation where you have the option to be nice. I did but it didn't show any opinion change (no +friendhip or +rivalry). After that, I went to her house for the quest to visit her and I chose the Romance option but again, no opinion change. Is this normal? How the hell can I fix this bug :/

One of the patches removed the approval bonus for being nice to her during "Nice Crime You Have Around Here." There's no patch or mod available that restores it from what I've been able to find. In the quest where you choose the romance option, you get an approval bonus for saying "You're welcome". You don't get an approval bonus for the other choices, though.
