ME(4) probably to be released in 2015. Would it make sense for BioWare/EA to at least provide one more "Surprise" DLC in a few months to.....

lol I totally get that. Perhaps I shouldn't have used it as an example. I guess maybe PHP stands for poor homeless poo for you? :D

On topic. Do you think for ME(4) provided its on frostbite that they would have the capability to create a map designer like the way Halo has? I can't begin to tell you how many hours I spent creating maps on the previous Halos and my friends we would mostly play games on the maps we created and the custom games were so much fun. It may not be the style of Mass Effect but a map creator would be so much fun. At this moment some people are bored of the current maps. If we could create our own and have the ability to share them on legit EA servers then that would be amazing. I'd have a hard time playing other games.

GK, i develop content on IMVU, i make level/map on H4. that's all i do oftenly.

okay, back on topic please

Quick deviation.

Wouldn't you be more of a "user" then say a "developer" ?

You are using the tools/SW other people developed?  Right?

but developer sounds cooler
and surely it cant be that hard
right?

Cassandra when Dunvi and the other gamer/devs here talk/write about development they mean actually writing code that varies from C, C++, Java, PHP, Objective C, etc etc etc etc. I understand what you are trying to say in the sense of development but its something totally different than what Dunvi does. Dont be offended but when one states he/she is a developer on a video gaming forum it usually means someone who writes codes, inspects it, reviews it, does quality testing and other such similar work that pertain to projects and/or actions that require knowledge of a code language.

Thats all Dunvi and the others are saying. You develop levels but are more of a user. Dunvi and other devs here write the actual code and use tools that create the functionality and even the personalities of the way thigns operate in an operating system and software tools. Thats all. Its a different thing than what you mean though. Just clarifying so that the confusion doesnt lead to a thread lock because of constant interpretations and back and forths.

oh, thank you invader. it's absolutely clear to me. although i should have clarify it a bit. sorry

I doubt it. The team would have to divert resources to produce a map editing tool.

eta: lol i was googling a few things re: frostbite and ended up glancing at their hiring page and lol - they have jobs that I would basically be perfect for..................... in stockholm

^^ Yes. Or even more likely create an entire "tools" team. Very unlikely with their recent layoffs.

Not really, for me - I've got some friends who love hacking on embedded systems but I've never really had the opportunity to try.

As everyone has stated, it seems highly unlikely, but I'd be very happy if they did release some surprise DLC.

By not really do you mean that you have done a little bit? I'm mainly curious about how programming for an embedded system compares with other programming since as a MechE the only programming I've done outside of embedded systems is simulation / data analysis stuff, and the 100 level CS class I took my freshman year.

I dunno why people are so scared of servers shutting down whatever, people are still happily freeburning online in burnout paradise and I doubt their player base is anywhere near ME3's

Oh well. Maybe Ghostknife or somebody else can satisfy my curiosity. If you ever do end up doing embedded systems work, don't ever trust data sheets until you cross check what they say. I learned that the hard way with some incorrect opcodes that were listed on a counter chip data sheet.

:P about the lowest level I go is GDB debugging and decompilation. I like my higher level languages *cuddles*

Ghost might be better to ask, definitely. (I'm still a student, so I don't have a lot of breadth in general :P)

So C isn't good enough for you? Working directly with registers and what not really isn't all that bad. You usually just need a stack of manuals and data sheets near by. Also, I'm kind of suprised I haven't had to learn Fortrran yet.

Geez. Thats' far out there man. At least for me as Im in the US.

As to the diversion well that presumes that they had not thought of doing it in the first place. I am to the point that I just dont assume as Halo kind of proved me wrong on that note and they came out with a map editing tool. ME doesnt really need it but if the quality continues to increase in this game....it would be something great for the future. What my question was gearing towards was wondering if frostbite is the kind of engine that allows to create something like that easier as opposed to something like the engine used to create Halo's map editing tool. Just curious.

As I stated before it would be really hard for me to play anything else if I was able to build maps. I spent weeks creating maps on Halo Reach and the last few Halo iterations. From Giant Robots to tanks, eagles, bases, etc etc....a map editing tool is such a great thing. Anyway....again, they dont need it but it would be sweet.

Um, since the devs are probably working on the next ME MP, can I vote for a downloadable multiplayer alpha build in early 2014 and a beta download in the fall of 2014?
