But I am still sure she has some plan to assume some form of power for her self, and then I am guessing we will be in a situation where will have a choice to let her go or fight her.

Man what a twist that would be.
Corypheus is also a possibility I guess.
I doubt it's Flemeth. Flemeth never struck me as some kind of Omnicidal Maniac who wants to destroy the world.
Plus they mentioned a "5 game plan" in one of the recent Gameinformer videos so if Flemeth is ever going to be a main villain it's be in game 5. Personally, this is a plot I'd rather not see wrapped up. The whole not knowing if she's even evil is part of her charm.
Actually, she may save us. We are the only survivor of the tear after all.Karlone123 wrote...
I'm not entirely sure Flemeth will be the main antagonist by choice, it's just a bit too obvious even though she has never been one before. Flemeth has never opposed the Warden or Hawke (at least not by her own choice). I'm merely speculating we will see her near the begining of the story but not in a situation of her saving us. I think she will try to approach the Inquisitor and strike an Alliance to try and restore the world. How that will go, I dn not know.
But I am still sure she has some plan to assume some form of power for her self, and then I am guessing we will be in a situation where will have a choice to let her go or fight her.

Someone photoshop a wand in his hand, pl0x.
Anyway, lots and lots and lots of thoughts about the main antagonist it seems.
What strikes me the most is that some say Flemeth/Morrigan and some say totally not. Interesting

How many magisters assaulted the Golden/Black City, already ? Could be a lead, or not.

thought I knew what Flemeth planned. I thought what she craved was
immortality. And yet I was wrong. So very wrong. She is no blood
mage, she is no abomination. She is not even truly human. The ritual
was but a means to an end, a herald for what is to come."
Sounds pretty damning to me.

I'd have to go with a new antagonist myself.
I doubt they'd go for Morrigan since they want to try and keep her grey (though hopefully they can do that with the actual antagonist.)
I doubt they'd go for Flemeth since she seems to be the NPC the devs like to use to make the PC's feel vulnerable in a 'you can't beat this person' type of way.
They're obviously not going to go for the Chantry, mages, or any of those since they won't want to portray one side as the wrong side.
If I had to take a guess, the main antagonist will probably be a very powerful demon that has been hiding itself as a human and using events to let demons cross over into Thedas though obviously Flemeth also has at least a hand in the latter.
This basically encompasses my thoughts, though I think Flemeth is also a realistic possibility. The big bad will not be directly involved in the mage/templar conflict - they'll be someone who has a stake in seeing Thedas descend into chaos, regardless of which factions are actually involved.
Or maybe it's the Qunari.

I would go the Assassin's Creed Route, meaning:
Make Nature the enemy (meaning maybe the Fade-Rifts are something that is happening every couple of thousand years or so or triggered by humans/elves/dwarfs etc. (without wanting to possibly) and we have to fix it?) so that we don't have to fight a big battle in the end but maybe put together a device that helps us survive (not like a Deus Ex Machina, more like something we ourselfs plan and execute (so no old plans from ages past or something and/or components scattered around the world, but us building something new!) and you need the ressources of the factions not for war but for survival!

Why does it always have to be a person or a group/a force of evil?

My theory is that the Grey Wardens either intentionally or unintentionally caused the tear in the Veil.
And now they are trying to conceal the truth and get rid of anyone who discovers it, in order to protect their own jobs as international protectors.

nice idea (would probably work very well here - well at least partly but IMHO the big bad should not be a person, a group, a faction or a force of evil like the darkspawn, making it nature itself is IMHO still more interesting - the based on choices approach will be at work, if you don't manage to get all factions on board to help you (but it should be possible to, of course) like the decision werewolfs or dalish in DA:O (i was pleasantly surprised, that i got it "right" the first time, meaning i got both factions on board) were both can survive, if you play your cards right!)

ps: why would the wardens tear the veil? what would they have to gain? (i mean, yeah they used demons in warden's keep and that tore it - locally - but only because of deperation and that didn't damage the veil at large!) and why should they do it?

Anyone think that the main protagonist may not be a specific entity or person, per se; rather the revolution itself?
This is what I have been considering.
There may not be a true big bad, or maybe the big bad varies according to your choices.

As a rule, the arch enemy of our hero will be an extremely hot super model who repeatedly seduces our hero during the course of the game.

Hey now I take an offense to that! Mages get enough bad rap as it is. Instead of a wand maybe photoshop a sword... or maybe a Pencil
