A major, world-scale, conflict source could be an unshackled, untainted Old God, who will have a score to settle with Fen'Harel. Furthermore, a scenario in which the Old God will be in a counterclock race against Fen'Harel's agents or even Grey Wardens/Darkspawn to release his brethern and defeat the Trickster would be quite interesting.

What this guy said. Pretty much word for word! I thought Fen'Harel from the beginning, since I have an ankling that he might be the 'Maker' as well. And I've read in the Codex that Fen'Harel still walks the Fade, so a tear in the veil... a long with a ticked off Old God trying to get to him. That's pretty scary :P

It would be nice to see someone like Loghain or Saren. Not just one-dimensional villain, who wants to destroy world but worthy opponent with logical or even idealistic motivation.

Saren was one of the better antagonists in Bioware games. For all his faults he was trying to save the galaxy by submitting.

Loghain was too paranoid for my liking but considering Orlais occupation his hate was somewhat justified.

All of the old gods that became Archdemon's before Urthemiel are dead and gone for good, and there's only one antagonist though i'm not sure who it is and I guess it could be Flemeth, Fen'Harel, Maker, or someone entirely new.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since Legacy, I am not sure that the old gods are dead. Why the Duma's altar works? A god can even be death? Why Coripheus though he was cheated when the magisters enter in the gold city?

The red lyrium idol seems like a humanoide also. That reacts like a archidemon. Too much questions? If gods evolve in that maybe it is the answer who is the main protagonist of the story.

But why Duma takes so long time to act now: I dunno. His altar works so he is alive and abble to give magical gifts.

In DAO : it was a archidemon.
In DA2 : it was a civil war due to the hate between two factions, with the influence of the red Idol.
In DAI : a god?

The best villain was Loghain, so far. DAI certainly seems to point to a conflict among mortals being the deeper problem, aside from the invasion of evil beings that throw everything into chaos (in a parallel with the Blight and Loghain in DAO).

Hey now I take an offense to that! Mages get enough bad rap as it is. Instead of a wand maybe photoshop a sword... or maybe a Pencil ;)

Sorry, wasn't supposed to be a mage-hating sort of thing :P It just seemed like David Gaider was making this perfect gesture for a wand shooting fireballs or something. I thought that a sword would be too heavy for a normal human being to flail it so quickly and freely around. :P

If that scrawny little Fenris elf could wield a giant size great sword around I'm sure that David Gaider can wield himself a sword, even with 1 hand.

Anyone think that the main protagonist may not be a specific entity or person, per se; rather the revolution itself?

BioWare have been quite clear that someone (or a group) is manipulating events in the background for DAI, while in DA2 they were quite clear that the "big bad" was circonstances (in interviews, not so much in the game).

Although, considering what happened in DA2, it pretty much point to DAI "big bad" being being DA2 circonstances. It sort of fit with the theme and too many things just fell too much into places for the power keg to explode: why did Karl have to be moved to Kirkwall? Who gave Bertrand the indications to find the lost Thaig with the red idol? Was there someone feeding Meredith's paranoia?

Which makes Cassandra half right too, it wasn't Hawke, but there was someone pushing Kirkwall to chaos. I also think that she was named Cassandra for a reason...

Interesting theory. I'm kind of curious to see if the DAI writes play up that connection in-game.

I think it will be Dumat.
We heard a little about him from Corypheus.

I would rather write in this one than jcaps. shrugs.
I still think it's going to be Dumat, Corypheus, and the original Tevinter mages that went to the Black City and were corrupted . shrugs.

Indeed. Personally, she might be a bit hot headed, but I hardly think she's a villain.

Assuming Corypheus told the truth and the city was black when there who is responsible for that. Whoever did that is the real villain , as it created the darkspawn.
So we know that Corypheus is still around aka possessed a warden, some entity took Dumat's offerings at his altar, presumably Dumat who supposedly is dead but it could be something else and we presume Fen Harel the elven God is around along with Flemeth who has Godlike powers. Plus the Architect, broodmothers, and possibly other corrupted Tevinter mages like Corypheus,.
Anybody else we can suspect ?

Seriously are some of you still saying Dumat is alive even when a grey warden killed him in full view of massive army at the battle of silent fields in Tevinter over a 1,000 years ago, even when some of his spine was used to make a sword and some of his claw was used to make a dagger.

The old gods were nothing but very intelligent and powerful dragons that apparently had the ability to talk to people through dreams though most of it they couldn't understand, but we all know a grey warden is needed to kill an archdemon and we all know what happens when they do, but people still think he's alive even when there are numerous explanations for it including blood magic, or Fen'Harel just messing with people or some other explanation.

To the people who keep saying there's a group of main antagonists or there's more than one, sorry but they've already confirmed there's a single major antagonist behind absolutely everything going wrong in Thedas and they also ripped the veil open.

I know that something took the offering and like I said there could be any number of explanations for what took the offering but still that doesn't change the fact he's still dead, his soul was destroyed, and his bones were used to make weapons.

Still doesn't mean there's more than one of them because again they've confirmed numerous times that there's a single antagonist who orchestrated everything, and yes he or she might have pawns but or underlings but they're still just that, our goal is still to uncover their identity and stop them by any means necessary .

Hmmmm..... Flemeth it has to be Flemeth and maybe Morrigan is trying to use the OGB to beat Flemeth, that's just my personal theory anyway.
