Duma ( Why the autel works if he is dead?)

I had always wondered the same thing about Dumat. Suppose to the be old god risen as the first Arch Demon, causing the first blight. But he still does have a bunch of altars that still do things. Also the altars that say Dumat Altars in Legacy look an awful like the one that Merrill was using for her demon friend. Maybe those just were what all the old god demon altars looked like, I don't know.

I think Flemmeth in involved. In each game she appears helpful, but she also clearly has her own agenda. For example, why did she save Hawke? It certainly wasn't out of the goodness of her heart, I think she saved Hawke knowing that his involvement in Kirkwall would spark the Mage Templar fighting there.

She manipulates events just enough to create chaos and crisis.

Flemeth saved Hawke so Hawke would bring her back to life after Morrigan killed her, remember?

I think Flemeth is definitely involved but her being the entity at the heart of it all (that orchestrated the chaos) just seems too obvious to be true imo. My money is on someone/thing new at this stage.

That's because everything looked the same in DA II.

Morrigan.

Last time we saw her, she was going through a magic mirror to another world in search of some great power.

She's also completely duplicitous. Setting the Warden up to kill Flemeth for her, and trying to hook the Warden into the Dark Ritual.

Flemeth might be mysterious, but she's never directly lied to the Warden or to Hawke and she's never done anything detrimental to the good guys' causes. Quite the opposite in fact.

I will go with Fen'Harel. He was the one who seems to delight in chaos and trickery. Locking the old gods away. He is probably the one responsible for corrupting the black city. Now he/she/it is turning his attention on Thedas itself.

True. That may be all it is.

But remember originally the Dark Ritual was Flemeth's plan. Morrigan just hijacked it. Also she may have not lied to Hawke, but she wasn't straight forward with him either. I just still think of basically you have her riding along with you at least a year.

The massive blood magic shrine/glyph that Kirkwall was turned into. Suspect Flemeth working hand in hand with the Imperium though Corypheus is implied to be a corrupting factor that helped kick it into overdrive.

All joking aside, I think the chaos is the unfortunate consequence of something meant to prevent further Blights. The Grey Wardens have always run the risk of becoming well-intentioned extremists, in my opinion. But someone or something else is taking advantage of the situation.

I suspect the Wardens are teaming up with the Architect or Corypheus to prevent the Blights. And, technically speaking, the Fade is how one starts a Blight, not how one ends it. So they'd probably be seeking for earthly means. Like shivving the remaining Old Gods in their sleep.

Though that did give me the idea that it's a second attempt at visiting the Black City. Given what's happening to the Chantry, it might be some morons thinking to go find the Maker.

Flemeth seemed concerned about more than just Morrigan in DAII. Maybe she has an undisclosed enemy (or even enemies) and this will be the main antagonist(s) in DAI.

Maybe it's the Maker that's responsible? Who owns the Fade anyway?

Never the mind.  It's probably Abbie Hoffman, right?

I doubt either of them is at fault
dont think morrigan ever lied either. She just didnt tell you about her purpose. Also asking the waren to kill flemeth was pretty strait forward, not setting up. She told you about why she needed her dead, self preservation, and ask for your help. .

Except in Legacy there was a conscious effort to avert the recycled assets. The devs were quite candid about that, and for the most part Legacy provided a lot of distinct environments, armor, and objects. So when something is recycled or at least familiar in that context, I'd say it might warrant a closer look.

That's not to say I think Dumat himself/itself is involved. Just that it's an interesting theory. And I do think Corypheus is bound to return.
