I like it when appearance and personality contrast.

You know, a really big, muscular manly man who seems like a brute at first, but turns out to be really shy and sensitive. Maybe he's even great at cooking and sewing and that kind of stuff. Think Kanji from Persona 4:





(I may be kinda slightly in love with the guy. Sue me. I'm still bitter about not getting to play a girl in Persona 4 Golden.)



Or the complete opposite: A dainty, young girl who seems innocent and child-like...but is actually a shrewd, manipulative b*tch or a downright sociopath.

That would be pretty awesome, I always recruited Loghain and made Alistair co-ruler with Anora. Have we heard anything from Simon Templeman?

With respect to my dislike of cameos, which includes the possibility that the cameod may be dead, instead of Jowan it should be someone in the same situation. Of which there are many.

I'm not sure I'd cnsider Sten shy and/or sensitive.
He seemed like the big silent type in the beginning...and that's pretty much what he was.

Bring Leliana along, then you'll learn that he likes kittens and picks flowers and his extremely quick to deny them. Also he has a cookie addiction so there's that.

I would like a Kossith companion of some kind kplzthx.  Other than that, I'm up for most anything, although I do hope that Varric is the only actual former *companion* that they bring back.  I like to meet NEW people.  Existing non-companion characters (Cullen if he shows, Cassandra) are generally okay with me.

I would like someone more grounded in reality and practical, but without much of a preset or strong agenda. A good voice of reason who would criticize more extreme or rash actions.

Also in terms of backstory I would like a banished magister from tevinter who tried to lead reforms in the magesterium and had to leave after so many assassination attempts.

Ah, you're right.
I don't think I ever brought him along. It was mostly just Morrigan/Leliana/Alistair.

Personality-wise Sten was the most complex companion in Origins and certainly the most subtle.  It's really impossible to tell how much of his grousing was sincere and how much of it was him giving people a hard time on principle.  He responds very positively if you tell him that you're not buying the "big dumb fighter" bit.  Of all the companions, he seems to be the most natural leader-type and "people person", albeit in more of a "I will tell you directly to your face that you are an idiot" manner.

I've known a number of people like that in my life--it's VERY hard to become friends with them because they're not naturally very sociable with new people but they are generally also the best people to know because whatever it is they do, they are an expert at it.

All new characters as companions would be very nice. I'd rather existing characters only be used as cameos and quest givers.

Also, I'm glad Leliana is returning in some capacity. Kinda iffy on the Cole train, but it could be interesting. There's potential there.

I've had imports where she doesn't appear after I've killed her in DA:O.

I'd like to see a James (ME3) like character.  If I had to choose one person to come back it would be Nathaniel.  I think there is a lot of potential with his character that hasn't been tapped yet.

I'm with you regarding Kanji. And I'm also a little bit (well, a lot) in love with Troy Baker's voice.  If that was part of the package, whoa.
