So not in the actual games? Do we have any official word on whether the books and comics are supposed to be canon or not to the games? It seems to me they would be better off keeping them separate so Bioware don't have to keep tabs on who did what to what character.

Truth be told: I have lost track of whats canon or not. First they said that anime thingy wasn`t part of the canon at all, and now it aparantly is. I`ve heard both about the comics and the books too.

They're canon unless they violate your own game canon.

If Wynne was already dead, then the events of Asunder happened some other way.

But if Wynne was alive, she's not anymore. ;-)

I want Dagna back! Not necessarily as a companion, perhaps as a someone who helps out in the castle. I just think the perspective of a dwarf educated in the field of magic would be very useful thing to have with the mage/templar war looming. As a dwarf she's at least somewhat removed from the issue, but as a student at the University whatever opinion she'd have would be based on quite a lot of knowledge. If for some reason she didn't end up training as a Mage in DA:O bring her back as a castle smith who had long ago given up her dream, only to see perhaps a glimmer of hope in joining the Inquisitor.

In that case I'll keep calling for Wynne among the characters I want to see more of. At the very least I may get a headstone and an explanation. lol

I think that book is canon if you didn't kill Wynne in DAO and got Shale

So kind of like how Wrex becoming leader of Clan Urdnot is canon if you didn't kill him in ME1?

I think so

It's following a set canon or "Bioware's Canon"

Well, considering I got one of my favorites available already (Varric), then Tallis and Oghren.

Well aside from characters we already know are in the game (Varric, Morrigan, Cassandra). here's what I would like:

Returning:
Leliana (My LI from Origins)
Alistair (Even if just a cameo, must have)
Cullen (Templar who's experienced both extremes, useful insight)
Anders (If saved, too compelling to leave out)
Anora (Mainly selfish reasons, want her to mention my Cousland king from one playthrough)
Loghain (No reason necessary)

New characters:

Personally, I am a HUGE fan of the books, so I wanna see some of those characteres make appearences, particurlarly Rhys and Adrian from Asunder. Also Fiona, especially since she's most likely Alistair's mom, as well as the Grand Enchanter. Seeing as how the Mage/Templar war is going on, I think we just might run into them. I also want to see Empress Celene, she seems very compelling.

I am with the crowd, who thinks they should tone down the amount of returning characters, as I would much rather meet new interesting characters - that would also avoid any mixed feelings I might have about a particular character suddenly acting differently (I'm looking at you Anders from DA:A to DA2 Image IPB)

Anyway for new characters I can only support the OP in that a positive done to earth character with no heavy bagage would be a nice addition and something you see only to seldom. I don't know the character the OP references to, but reading the topic I immediately started thinking about Garrus from the ME series. He was a cool badass guy when in battle, but still the kind you wanted to have a cold one with afterwards when the fighting is done.

I would also like to see a mage, who believes in the Circle concept (not Wynne), so far most mages have been too much into blood magic and/or hate towards the potential danger their abilities pose. Someone like the mage from the Morrigan DLC to DAO (Finn or something I think his name was).

You may get a headstone or an explanation, yeah. But if Wynne did not survive DAO for you, she is dead. If she survived DAO, she died in Asunder. The peripheral media are as canon as possible, meaning the events happened slightly differently depending on your own game's canon. But if something can happen (ie Wynne is alive in your game), then the peripheral media's events will happen (Wynne having a great role and meeting her end in Asunder).

Oh, and as for characters I want, I'll just say Cole. As in Asunder Cole, but a Cole Train-like is cool too I guess.

Cullen... Yes, sorry, I'm one of those fangirls. I just really like the way he has evolved with the years. No I'm not pro-templar. But I'm totally pro-rivalmance *dies*... Please don't take me seriously.

Also I just started reading Asunder, and Cole could be really nice as a companion. I'd also want Rhys, not as a companion but I want to see him.
And in fact I want every old companions to make a cameo ! Oh I hope we'll see Anora if she was spared or made queen

Just fewer moody, broody, whiny, male characters would be nice. A couple companions that actually appear masculine would be a good change. A wise old seasoned warrior perhaps. Varric was the only really male character I felt any kind of positive connection with in DA2. Anders and Fenris both were well... damaged goods really. They had obsessions with the chips on their shoulders and seemed to lack the emotional stability to move beyond the bad things that happened to them.

Where as on the other hand, the female companions were pretty well rounded(no Isabella jokes there) and well-written.
