IT is the domain of crackpots and lunatics. The same kind of behaviour that pervades tin foil hat wearing loons who think that no aliens on earth means there's a government conspiracy to cover it up.

Far better to believe a fantasy than accept the reality of a situation.

so you accept the reality of the ending of a game which is only a game, but yet criticise people for having a different opinion to yours which is to not accept the fiction of the game ending as truth?

I believe he criticizes the fact that IT is little more than an excuse that people use to explain away the terrible endings as being something that was done on purpose, b/c no way in hell could BW screw up so badly, right? So, rather than accept the fact that BW have lost their touch, people will believe some crackpot theory based on non-evidence, and the belief that there was gonna be this big reveal that never came.

I accept the reality that the writing was crap and as a result so was the over arching plot and conclusion. I don't delude myself into coming to the deranged conclusion that because I dislike a piece of literature it requires some explaination, other than it was poorly done, without a shred of credible proof.

Its also not opinion, that tired contrived point is trotted out whenever someone has nothing else to use.

I like the endings. I guess I'm a pro-ender. Is that a bad word?

Reading the leaked old scripts and Drew's dark energy idea it is pretty clear that the literal interpretation of the ending is what Bioware had envisioned for quite some time and intended for people to view it as such.

No. Frankly I thought they were a load of crap as were many of the plot points, like the Cruicible and Cerberus turning into nut jobs and becoming powerful enough to attempt domination etc.

But, if you liked the endings that's fine. Just don't delude yourself into thinking that there's some conspiracy called IT with not a shred of proof, beyond circumstantial and coincidental points.

I never thought IT was true and seemed out of place. I did feel that I could not trust the Catalyst and chose destroy for taking a shape from my dreams.

It is on BSN. Many here can't stand dissenting or alternate opinions. In a way I'm glad the IT thread got locked and IT got banned from these forums. Many on BSN do not have the maturity level or ability to discourse in a critical and effective way enough for true investigatory theories of the narrative of Mass Effect. Shame. But it is, what it is.

IT has zero credibility for a number of reasons but most importantly cause you know damn well the "theory" wouldn't exist in the first place if the so called "literal" endings were good.

The sooner these people accept that ME was little more than a linear cover shooter with spellcasting and dialogue options the better for their own mental health.

Yes, some of the followers of the series get a bit out there when discussing it. But then again so do Star Wars and Star Trek fans.

This one has lasted longer than the one from two days ago. That's progress.

You know a theory is broken when concepts such as recycled models and lack of solid continuity/retcons are used to substantiate it. In the Citadel DLC, when James Vega uses a bomb to break into the Citadel archives, the object in his hand is actually the shotgun thermal clip upgrade, therefore all of this has been a medigel-induced fever dream. It really does get that silly.

And Wrex does switch shotguns at least twice. Mordin and Kelly even switched voices. It's starting to fit together now.

well at least it's better than bashing the ending at every opportunity. I suppose maybe hoping that the end is more than it appears is what keeps some people going. And since bioware openly encouraged 'speculation for everyone' in the ending, 'the theory that must not be named' is just as valid an explaination as assuming that it's just poorly written rubbish.

fwiw I always said it was a part of the explaination, not the whole rabbit hole.

And let's not forget how Shepard gifts Tali an invisible stone on Rannoch. I have no idea at this point how people can even believe what they're seeing is real! Not only was that stone scene not real, but it was also symbolic as ****. Shepard gifted Tali an invisible stone as hope. What does it mean? It means the hope you are seeing is fake. The hope in the form of choices, are fake. See? it all makes sense. You just have to thing deeeeep.

I try not to think about the vanishing rock of Rannoch, same as I ignore the possible places Shepard hid that bottle of whiskey for Kaidan, or whether or not credits in the MEU is actual paper money that people can actually hand you, judging by the gestures they make when they pay up.

I personally consider the IT to be canon for my Shepard's story all other arguments are irrelevant. My Shepard past the test by refusing Harbinger's indoctrination attempt, Shepard woke up on the ground at the beam, rallied the remaining armies, destroyed The Reapers conventionally, and had a happy ending.

Anderson survived (for real), The Crucible Plot never existed in my Shepard's story, and Javik was actually the big secret found on Mars that Cerberus was after.

So when did your indoctrination start? Because LotSB hints at the Crucible.

There are a lot of things in ME3 I have to pretend or headcanon to make the overall experience bearable.
