I'm looking to make a change to the way that both the Combat Expertise and Improved Combat Expertise feats work. Basically, I want to enable these modes for use when the character has a ranged weapon equipped. This is primarily for warlocks; CE and ICE can be very useful to warlock characters, and they do apply to the warlock's ranged touch attacks. However, CE and ICE modes cannot be used while a ranged weapon is equipped, and a warlock will typically carry a thrown weapon with an enhancement bonus to add to the RTA to hit rolls.
Does anyone happen to know which scripts or other files I will need to edit in order to implement this change? I'm guessing I should just need to alter or remove a check in each of the feats, but I'm still a little new to this and I'm not sure which script governs these effects.

A lot (if not all) of the combat mode feat behaviours are hardcoded into the game engine.

I have always kinda thought that at some point someone who make new scripted feats to replace the hardcoded ones.
The trickiest bit would probably be how to code a new UI for them (I don't think the quickbar would really be sufficient) and how to handle stacking issues (I'm not sure if there's an easy way to code untyped AC like for combat exp).
