What is everyones top 3 favorite companions and why?
As for me
1st - Shale (such a goddess :happy: plus she has good/funny dialogue IMHO)
2nd - Oghren (hes so chill and pretty cool guy to have, plus awesome in combat:P)
3rd - Morrigan (Like her sassyness, but disapproves of everything i do -.-')

I find myself always using Alistair and Morrigan and then picking a 3rd at random and keeping them through the entire game until forced to change by a plot. Last game my 3rd was Zev, now it is Sten.
The reason I started keeping the same companions is that I thought that if I accepted a new partymember then I would have to permanently get rid of another. It wasn't until a plot change that I realized I could just keep the extras in camp. In my first game, Zen and Leliana died because I didn't take them along despite Leliana's contant begging.

If you don't take Leliana and Sten on at Lothering, both will be killed when the Darkspawn invade.DAO Lemon wrote...

1. Leliana: fill up bard, and then give her ranger and fill it up
suddenly you have an extra two powerful allies, and leliana can be doing captivating song while the beasties beat her foes to death
2. Shale: she is a one-man army (or woman, golem, whatever). She has so many area attacks, you can just send her into the fray, and have her beat darkspawn to bits while you have your archers and mages backing her up
3. Wynne: Useless on her own, but devastating with allies, if you give wynne blood magic and blood sacrifice, along with alot of constitution, wynne can pretty much keep your team alive forever
