Their Origin character creation screen has four classes listed instead of three.

Probably an old build, when Spirit Healer was the "cleric" style class.

No, I think it's the mod "Dalish Mage" but it's been too long since I played it.

I love playing as elves, but I also love beard on my character, so I'm in a strange predicament right now. Since beard could be the main reason for why I choose to play as human first. lol

Tsss, if you want to go for the beard, you should play a dwarf.B)

But then, I want a shaved dwarf. They better let me have a beardless dwarf, or Varric will pay.

So he admits they caved to some loud whiny fans and it will cost them money they could have spent make a better game.

Good work fans<_<

I know, it's awful, something we really wanted. Whatever will we do.

How dare we want something consistent like racial options in an epic fantasy series? Shame on us.

I never asked for this!

I was happy with a human pc.

I know what YOU will do, you bit*# and moan about it not being exactly what you want. Like the people who want Kossith player race.

So why waste the time and money on an attempt to recapture to feel of DA:O. And it won't it will not be the same and people will say it sucks for being a 'lesser' version of DA:O rather then it's own thing.

The DA:I have no faith in their own game.

That is why they will fail

edit: one of them even admits that the game makes less sense as an Elf/Dwarf. So yeah

While it's true that most people play as humans, the number of those who play the game as elves and dwarves are by no mean insignificant. It's a feature that add immersion to the game and to the role-playing experience. While I often play as humans in my first playthrough in any game that allow race customization, that doesn't meant that I couldn't be happy for those that have the race customization back. Race customization could be part of what make Inquisition game great. You can't tell at this point.

I will now act offended that zots were spent on something a minority of fans care about but is meaningless to me. After all, only things I value can make something a 'better game.' This will be unironic.

RAGE!

Whew... that was invigorating! Now to fix myself a cup of tea.

My heart bleeds for you.

I'm sure they could have spent the money better though, development resources are entirely interchangable. They could have had all the art and animation guys doing level design. Or just laid them off.

I have never really felt pro or against the race choice. But it makes a lot of people happy and the dev sounded really exicted about it, plus it seems they will try and handle it better than in da:o.

So for now it seems like a good choice.

Wow, somebody needs a nap. I was happy with the idea of the PC being human, but I think it's great that the option to be another race will be available for those who really want it (and having the option will probably lead to increased replays for myself). After all, what you or I might want in a game does not trump what others would like to see...it's call reality. I think predicting that "they will fail" based on this is rather...silly.

I do enjoy reading : " why waste time and money ? " For romance, for races options, for customization or I don't know what. This always makes me laugh.

The fact that I can be an elf again makes me so happy and way more enthusiastic to play DA:I. I felt somewhat forced to play as a human although I understand now that it was for story purposes.. I'm glad they are listening to fan feedback. Just because there are few of us who play as other races doesn't mean we should be ignored. But nevertheless thanks bioware.

Or it could detract from from the story, having it make less sense and taking some time/money away from inproving ALL of the game.

I liked the races in DA:O, but I didn't miss them, they were part of the story in the first game, it was a quick way to build the world. Here we already know the world, it smacks of 'perfect entry for new players' like they called ME3.

So forgive me for not being swept up in the knee-jerk 180, you enjoy it.

That's kind of the point.  Your arguing against yourself.  You don't care about races...what else is BioWare working on for the next year that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to that you do care about that other people...not so much?

You don't really think extra races is the only card they have up their sleeve? <_<

Ha. Everyone's so excited about being an Elf or a Dwarf. Meanwhile I'm sitting here thinking to myself "Is *anyone* happy to be just a human character?!" Ouch for being in the minority.

They were never going to remove that option, though. There's little to no reason to be happy about it. It was always going to be there for us.

My god, it feels like Mike Laidlaw is really conservative about what he promises and what he says. and I like it!

Well, what do you expect after all those DA2 interviews where he puffed up the game to be something it wasn't (a choice-driven RPG), and he got called on his bs.
