This is really confusing. I cannot use any of my DLC if I am logged into my profile I redeemed the codes on. And such cannot log into any of my characters.

However, if I am NOT logged into any account... I have access to them. What is going on?

I'm glad it's not just me having the issue. (Not that I want others to have problems. Just that there's more likely some issue causing this that will be fixed. Soonish, hopefully.)

I started a thread over on the other board about this.

Someone has posted a solution about editing one of the games xml files, but I haven't had a chance to try that yet.

What did work for me was to not click "Always log me in", and always start the game logged out. I could then log in to my account and they would still be authorized and I could play.

Me too. And I never thought to try logging out, so thanks for that tasty little number. I did notice that for the last hour or so I was playing, I couldn't get logged into the server, so when I shut down, I was offline. (And this involved a crash during an area transition as well.) Not sure if that has anything to do with it...

Same ... but why the hell do we have to buy crap that could be in the game to start with. Now that Bioware is in bed with EA I really wonder why I bother to buying their games!

Same problem here. Savegames only load when I'm logged out. Not sure why this is happening, but seems to have started with Patch v1.02a.

Yea this happens to me every time, but it lasts ten seconds as the DLC is verified.

First of all don't "auto login" and always start the game offline.

When you start the game, and click "DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" you will notice all of your DLC is in the INSTALLED CONTENT (as in bought DLC) page.

So this is where you log in.

Once you log in, you will notice that the Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner DLC is in the AVAILABLE CONTENT (as in available to buy DLC) page all of a sudden.

If you try to load the game at this stage, you won't be able to because the DLC is being verified. Just give it ten seconds and you will see the DLC go to the AVAILABLE CONTENT page. That's when you shouldn't have problems loading.

I hope this helps. I guess worse comes to worse, you have to play offline.

Yeah, I've pretty much resorted to playing offline all the time. Not much of a loss, really. It's not like there's multiplayer or anything.

If it's not running:
Right Click it
select Start
Right Click again
select properties
Start Up Type: select Automatic
Start Dragon age
Log in
Enjoy

If it is running..
Not sure yet.

Hope this helps some of you!

same problem like rest of you. Im getting very frustrated. The solution with run for services.msc does not work. I saw when I installed stone prisoner that it was for the original game version 1.0. So maybe it has with the patch 1.02va to do because its the wrong version. Only a reflection, i dont really know what the hell is happening for now.

When I did my first launch after patching I found that my Stone Prisoner addon was not even installed anymore and some things were showing 'unauthorised'. The solution I found is odd, so sorry if it doesn't work.

I just wanted to double check that they were still registered, so on this site I went to Profile > Your registered game promotions, Stone Prisoner and everything else were all listed so I started up again and it was all good. Stone Prisoner had to redownload along with two of the bonus items, but it all works...

I have also heard that if you go to the config tool (found in the DA folder > bin_ship > DAOriginsConfig) then go to Repair and hit Clear Download Cache, this will help. This helped on another occasion that my DLC was showing unauthorised.

Good luck all.

The Dragon Age Origins - Content Update service has to get started everytime you play the game, without it the game cannot connect with the server to verify what content you have the rights to. Its supposed to start automatically upon game launch, but for some people that never works and they have to start it manually, or play logged out. Also the automatic launch seems to run into problems more when the servers are slow.

There is a beta fix available that can help. I found it took me from always having to start the service to hardly ever for a while, but lately the servers have been so slow I'm back to often having to manually start it.

We have a preview application that contains a number of the DA Updater fixes for the upcoming PC Patch.
You can try it out and see if it helps solve your problems in the meanwhile.
If you do, please let me know if it helps.

Also, you'll want to confirm your service starts when you boot the game. A few users have reported they need to manually start their service for some reason.
1. In Windows, Press start
2. Run "services.msc"
3. Find and start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"
4. Restart game

cheer's! I could start the game now, when logged in. And got an update in, steam Dragon age, when restarting the game. Gonna try it out a little longer thogh, and see if it's gonna last. :D

Same problem here but the content updater simply don't starts at all. Even when starting it manually the services stops right away. Any advice on that?

This helped by putting me on the right path. I had installed DA on my E: drive, then un-installed it, and later installed it again on my F: drive.

When I look at the service files properties, it has the path:
E:\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

However, there is nothing in my E: drive Bioware folder, in fact there is no Bioware folder on my E: drive.

I did have a path to this service file:
F:\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

I copied this "DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe" file, created directories to fake a
E:\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\ path, pasted the file into this dummy directory, and now it is working.

Hope this tip helps someone.

Edit: I don't know why it keeps putting double slashes in my path names, but you get the idea.

Or you could simply change the path in the service properties window to point to the correct location.

I could not edit the path. Not sure if you need different permissions to do that, but it does not let me simply change the path in the service properties window.

However, it is back to saying that my installed content is Unauthorized, so I am going to restart the game, log in before launching a game, and see if that helps.

After the game launch and before clicking on New, Resume or Load, try the following:

1. from main menu, check that you are logged in then select Downloadable Content
2. if you see your DLCs on a green background and Points Balance updating, continue to step 7
3. wait for Point Balance to be updated
4. close panel
5. click again Downloadable Content
6. this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again
7. wait for Points Balance to be updated
8. close panel and load your saved game, resume a previous game or start a new one.

You only have to proceed this way on your first load after each DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directly load saved games during the same session.

If the above steps do not solve your issue, the next step is to try to launch the Dragon Age Updater service prior to launching the game. For this, exit the game if it is already running, open Windows main menu, select Run..., type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Updater service. Right-click on this service and select Start in the contextual menu. Once the service has started, close the Services window, relaunch the game and repeat the above steps.

You may also find useful information about the Dragon Age Updater service here.
