Yeah it would be cool to have my mongoloid eye in the CC. I'd also like Na'vi and zombie textures and dracula teeth. Also some hardass stuff like the head of a lion or an eagle or a Guy Fawkes mask.
I think those type of things would be better suited for Saints Row. xD
Na'vi and Guy Fawkes wouldn't even exist in Thedas, so those would be lore breaking. xDD

If its naive to think that there aren't people in Thedas who are from different geographical areas that could result in different appearances, why is it then wrong to ask that those areas be, at the least, named?
Otherwise, you are essentially saying people of varying racial appearances/backgrounds popped up out of the ground.
Jimmy this idea pops out of nowhere. So you're telling me that if you find an Asian looking npc unless he/she says "I'm an immgrate" it would totally ruin your experience? I agree that since traveling in Thedas is not easy finding a many non Caucasican npc would not be fitting, but we don't need explaination for every non-caucasican npc exisisting
First off, I'm not saying it would ruin my expereince. I'm saying it would weaken the narrative.
Second, I'm not saying they even have to be an immigrant neccessarily... but some attempt must be made to explain what is going on.
Third, this exact topic came up before and Gaider weighed in, supporting exactly what I'm saying. So for all of those people saying this is ridiculous or implying that I'm being racist, then you are saying essentially that Bioware is also being ridiculous and racist. Which is a fair enough opinion to have, but please do not just slough it off as the BSN being a bunch of ignorant Klan members, when in reality, I'm actually working to maintain the narrative integrity of the story.
You completely misunderstood what i was trying to say: as we know that Continent outside Thedas exsist we also know (or assume) that human being from those places have different features. So if a random asian looking person appeared in the game I would not complain if there's no explanation. I'd like to hear more of the country we still don't know about? Hell yea, but I wouldn't make a fuss on it if there's not.

I don't see the need for lore to justify the color of someones appearance in DA. Its a fantasy game set in a universe of magic and all sorts of people, animals, creatures, monsters, etc. In comparison to all the fantastical things we encounter in these games, ones skin color seems like a minor issue to me. Why should the devs limit themselves to what they can create because of the real world that we live in?
Agree completely.

That comment annoys me on a deep level. I'll try not to say anything.
As for the topic--I'm black and I don't really care. It doesn't matter to me in the slightest. At all.

I'd like to see more options. I also don't think it would be lore breaking at all to distribute those options among NPCs. I think it's weirder that on this continent, everyone has the same facial features. They should be more distinct. There don't have to be analogues for every variation you'd find among humans on Earth, but I don't see how embiggening the distinction between the ones we have is a bad thing. The inconsistency of features between games and other media have been brought up, and that to me seems like a stronger case for more distinction. Why not take the new game as an opportunity to erase that ambiguity? To refine the current ethnicities would possibly help prevent further inconsistency. That also seems like a good thing.
Then you have the art that shows the different countries' fashions. They are very, very distinct. Doesn't it seem odd to have those very different styles being worn by people who look identical? There are clearly greater cultural distinctions at play. Why doesn't that extend to the people themselves?
Vivienne already seems like a step in that direction, anyway. What little we've seen of her face doesn't seem to suggest the facial features we've come to regard as typical; at least not to me.
