sounds to me that they want rainbows and unicorn endings. no death no open endings. so all that is really left is rainbows and unicorns, I guess they could always proposfully do a "Half-ass" job at the ending. Cause I'm sure everyone would accept that...

example.....billions dead but shepard lives on with his paramour = rainbows and unicorns?

DAO ending in which the warden lives is rainbows and unicorns?

I wouldn't care if they got killed in some way.

I'm conflicted on this, on one side I find it extremely annoying that Bioware had to put the Warden's fate in such an unsure position again by playing the ''mysterious disappearance'' card with Leliana, especially if they don't intend to use it in DA:I.

On the other hand, Bioware's trend of characters disappearing and no real closure, is because they want us to use our imagination to decide for ourselves how our characters ended up, like Hawke and The Warden.

Again, if Bioware has no intention of doing anything again with the Warden, they should not have mentioned him/her the way they did in DA2, sure, references to for example Mahariel being the ''Hero of Ferelden'' by Merril are fine, but not important things that put the entire fate of the character into unsure territory again, all for a long off ''maybe'' in the back then DA3 concerning The Warden possibly being in it in some way.

Anyway, to some, like me, something like this means a lot, while others, like the poster above me, couldn't care less about either one of the previous protagonists.

I'm getting real tired of "the hero needs to sacrifice" bs.

While I do tend to find that heroes who keep disappearing for without much of a clear reason as to why, this can also help set up a protaganist's return in a later story. I never heard it was confirmed that Hawke's story is finished like the Warden's as he/she could return as a protagonist later on. Just as an example as to why this sort of story plot is used quite often.

seconded

also Luciana, I am not paying 60$ to be told to do Bioware's job for them especially with a BS situation like the breath scene

some open endedness is OK....BUT ME3 level open endedness is not, at least to me.

hence why I am not finalizing my purchase until full spoilers are out

Actually, it was stated pretty clearly that Bioware considers The Warden and Hawke to be done.

Some will agree entirely, others like me will object to it.

Deal with it?

I mean, what do you really want in the end? Everything to be tied up in a bow in terms of closure means what to you? You had that with the Warden as is for one anyway, and as for Hawke...well, we shall see what happens in Inquisition, if at all.

When you say lack of closure, what exactly are you looking for in the end when its clear there was closure already in one game, and a resolution in the other?

pardon me? No, I will not "deal with it" actually, it is part of the reason why I am not preordering the game.

In the last 3 games by byoware I got

1: mass effect 3 vanilla ending.....no closure....whatsoever

1b: Extended cut....added closure for Blue and Green was great...too bad I picked red and whoopsie my Shepard is left under the rubble, alive, but I hardly call that closure (and no before you ask I do not care about closure for OTHER characters, just mine).

2: dragon age Origins awesome closure....BUT...

3: DA2: hero vanished never to be heard again AND the warden from DAO ALSO vanishes as well possibly retconning the epilogue of the first game.

So ****ing forgive me if I find this trend a little annoying. Again,I do not want everything nearly tied up in a bow but a little more goddamn closure for my main character would be appreciated TYVM.

EDIT: the OPTION for a happy ending would also be greatly appreciated....

Since you didn't even answer my question by stating what constitutes closure...let me rephrase it and ask again.

What, to you, is closure for your character? Specifically. Is it what you are told about the character? Epilogue screens? Known actions? Continued actions? Implied actions? Is it just the fact that they are alive over dead unless you choose that fate?

I wouldn't mind my Inquisitor settling down with her love interest after saving the world. I mean, a nice, happy ending is in the cards eventually, right? xD

closure? for moi? main story arch of the character concluded, open possibilities for the future with a few hints (no need for a blow by blow) possibly with previous foreshadowing......and definitely not a freaking situation in which I am wondering are they alive or dead?

also forced death = not for me thanks

Or maybe a more simpler ending were everybody recieves medals, then turns around to cheers of admirers, while a wookie yells.--Cut to credits!

After the DA 2 Exalted March expansion was scrapped in favor of DA III, didn't the devs say that Hawke's story would still be resolved in DA III, just not in a playable form?

I hope they didn't double back on this.

Don't remind me of my lack of a happy ending with my LI.
My Shepard is buried under rubble, likely to suffocate before someone finds her. xD

Sorry to hear what happened to your warden and hawke. My warden is sitting on her throne and my Hawke ran away with Fenris. Sorry man, better luck next time *trollface*

No that's what you want to happen, it's not what actually happened.  What happened is that the two characters disappeared for some reason and it's probably something big.

I remember hearing something vaguely like that. I'm not sure, though. I imagine whatever force (or Flemeth) could have killed or captured both The Warden and Hawke. Or maybe nothing happened to them at all and Leliana is just being a simpleton as usual.

I hope Hawke's story has some resolution, though. The end of DA2 didn't feel nearly as satisfying as DA:O's ending. So many questions were left unanswered. Important ones. Having a cliffhanger at the end of a 40 hour RPG isn't exactly a cool thing to do to your audience, especially when it'll take upwards of three years to see the next installment.

I'm sure we'll see some kind of resolution, though. It's hard to imagine that they haven't had some idea of what to do in the intervening years between DA2 and now.

Cassandra is probably just hopeless at finding people. So Cupcakes characters are doing what she/he said they are doing.

For me it's pretty simple, especially after the ME3 ending fiasco and DA2, I will not pre-order this game until I have clarity on things that are important to me, what kind of role, if any, The Warden might have in DA:I, is such a thing.

Right now it's vague as hell, nobody knows if Hawke or The Warden will actually be there or if they will have a meaningful role even if they are there, so yeah, it's easily still a year to go, so, if they at some point give me that clarity, I will pre-order, otherwise, I will either buy it at launch if I am satisfied enough about other things, or wait until it's in the bargain bin.

What if the inquister is actually the maker in "human form" .fixing things to a different perspective and THEN BOOM disappears like dust in the wind and Dragon Age 4 picks up with everyone putting the pieces back, while trying to take order.Hench Blighten mind Expansion comes into play.pretty much Warden n Hawke join forces to end life and setup the reboot
