You know what, it really doesn't matter.

The point is, this is a good thing. They've obviously taken a lot of criticism for releasing information beforehand on previous games that wasn't true. They're trying to make amends.

And I'm happy they are; I just wish they tell me that heroes won't vanish unless we know why.

uh...right....they keep them gagged even after the "no more content" deadline when the game gets into the polishing stage

right, not as large as the ending itself or the presence of an NG+ feature

I dunno. Is an NG+ feature really that much work? It's just copying your weapons and skills to a new character.

I always viewed the endings as such:  Bioware not determined yet if the Warden has finished their story of if will be ported over into a new story sometime down the line (several hints even in Awakening) and as for Hawke....  well, after your part in the events at Kirkwall, would YOU reall want to advertise your location, knowing fully well that SOMEONE is very likely to hire the Antivan Crows?  ESPECIALLY if you are a mage that sided WITH the mages?

As for the precise reason why the Warden disappeared, well....  It would take something beyond belief to draw Queen Elyndra Theirin (Cousland girl who married Alistair and rumored to also have a child with him) or elven mage Neria Surana, who became Chancellor.  Her pregnancy was by a certain assassin, since the child is elven.....  Neither would lightly leave Denerim.

You should know well enough Bioware asked for this when Leliana said "The Warden disappearing as well as Hawke is no coincidence."

Simply stating they were gone was good enough, but they went the extra mile.

crap i forgot about that statement. Now they pretty much have to follow through on  the disappearance

While I get the point you are making, the opposite, it is still very annoying for Bioware to seemingly make something like that a mysterious and important point, only to then go ''sorry guys, we's trollin ya'', it was only one line, yeah, and to some, you probably included, it likely means nothing, but to others, it raises expectations.

I can also understand that it's possible that at the time they did it to keep open a possible role for The Warden in a sequel, and that plans have changed that retcons that, that is why someone like me wants clarity on such a thing, when they can give that clarity anyway.

I find this lack of communication rather....disappointing

Given that the game is still over a year away, and how much we already know about it, and the fact that their marketing team most assuredly has detailed plans for more info rollouts over the coming months, I am not yet ready to claim disappointment.

If in 6 or 8 months we're still getting non-answers about basic things, then sure.

I honestly don't know what you're getting at with that. Are you suggesting there was a serious lack of information in general before those games' release? Or something specifically to do with the protags? Because I recall neither situation. If anything, I seem to recall the general consensus being that they were releasing a little too much info before it was set in stone.

If BioWare actually states what happens to the characters in some contact in this I'll be happy to, but yea, please tell us what happens to the player for this game if possible.

Gaider has said multiple times that the Warden's story is indeed done. So that line has no reason to even exist if that is true. If that is indeed the case, then we should be allowed to know what happened to our previous heroes and the Inquisitor have a more defined fate.

I think the issue most have is that we've already watched two of our characters literally walk off the stage and into the sunset. Bioware doesn't have to necessarily bring them back, but I certainly would love to have some idea of what happened to them based upon the way we chose to play

both actually "oh the game is not out yet, ignore the lack of info and take it on faith it will be a great bioware game as usual"

yeah, no

I can accept any disapearance if that gives a sense of the story. But three main characters would disapear without explanation, it is ridicoulous.

The sentence of Bioware via Leilanna is a hook. I will take this hook only some answers or indices of answers will happen in this story.

Feel free to continue disappearing used up protagonists, BioWare. No one here is actually going to stop playing your games if Hawke or the Warden never show up again.

I could care less if they appear again. What I'm asking for is that the Inquistor not simply disappear for no reason. If Bioware (aspecially Gaider) is tired of explaining to fans that they will and have no problem with go against headcanon made by the fans then why did they set themselves up for that twice now?

The ending is the last part of the game they work on. So yes, I expect it can change.

It all boils down to that silly line of Leliana's at the end of DA2, about the Warden and Hawke ~mysteriously disappearing~. Either it's a dangling red herring that should never have been uttered, or the fates of the Warden and Hawke are somehow tied into events coming up in DAI. Obviously, I'm hoping for the latter.

It boils down to more than Leliana's line at the end of DA2. As i've posted in other threads on topic the epilogue of the DA2 guidebook teases this as well.

Yes, please.

I didn't mind Hawke's disappearance but was annoyed by the Warden's, as it retcons the epilogue you get for the Warden in DAO.

Can't you just join fanfiction.net and do a head canon like a normal crazed obsessed fan of the game?

I can get the "though that wasn't the last time we heard about him/her" or something for the Warden. The main story was over and he went off to live his life or die whatever. It also serves as a loose end for future DLCs (the main reason why the characters "disappear").
Hawke, on the other hand, had absolutely no kind of closure. He simply vanished and the DA2 ending left a lot of unanswered quentions. And we all know why: they planned a DLC. Wich didnt happen.

I just hope that this time they finish the damn story instead of purposedly leaving it "open" so they can MAYBE add some DLC later.
