How I miss the days when Arcane Warrior Wynne would finish High Dragons in a brilliant display of acrobatic maneuvers.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but yes, that awesome acrobatic deathblow.  It maybe just for aesthetic purposes but it gives the player, well it gave me a sense of -- accomplishment as you would say as hordes of darkspawn is being beheaded or blood gushing out of them.  Not to mention, it's not you just doing it, even your companions are in the action of this awesome gorey mess.

Not to mention, no one complained about deathblows or finishing moves for arkham city, assassin creed, skyrim battlefield, and halo why should we stop it for this game? assassin's creed's assassination method from behind gives small animation that the player notices and  not so much as a huge cutscene.  batllefield is the same and so is halo.

I believe we should have deathblow return because it's cool as hell.

Having finishers is fine but I would prefer if one of two things happen:

1.  Finishers will only activate on the last enemy of the group you are fighting.  Assassin's Creed 3 will sometimes have this where Connor will do a stylized, slo-mo kill on the last enemy.  This is fine as it does not interupt the flow of the combat or hinder you during a fight.

2.  However if a finisher can activate during a fight then either you should be allowed to cancel the animation so you can get back to the fight if you wish OR the rest of the fight needs to essentially hold still while you perform the animation.  As others ahve pointed out, it was very frustrating to be stuck in the finisher animation when you needed to do something else to win the fight.  It was also quite dumb that you could be damaged during a finisher animation.

I am totally cool with finishers they can add a nice bit of fourish and style to combat.  However they should not be done in a way that hinders normal gameplay.

I like how they do it in Skyrim......we need death blows back! It's just fun.

Last enemy kills sounds like the best thing, and 100% deathblows on boss (Lieutenant+) enemies, who usually appear alone or with weak cohorts anyway.

I would like finisher type of animations for insta-kill habilities and the such. Although I would prefer all close combat fights to look like the finishers (meaning, the figting characters synch so there can be parrys and the such, like in KotOR) I doubt that is going to happen. But maybe it could work that way for particular actions.

I support this. I like the deathblows, but it would be annoying to be in the middle of a fight with several enemies when the everything suddenly slows down and the camera angle changes a bit because Alistair is killing an Ogre.

I think they are a must in boss fights, and it would be awesome if there are dependent on class (like the fight against the Mother in DA:A).

If they want to do a few cinematics for select boss deathblows, fine by me. I don't want to have to get bogged down in one every time the game forces me to climb Mt. Ogre. By the time you got to the endgame in Origins the ogres were pretty common and it was so annoying to watch my teammies on auto-tactics while my warden was hanging off the side of an ogre.

In a related note, I agree with Plaintiff from last page that it was enormously satisfying to watch enemies blow apart into chunks. The more unlikely to cause dismemberment the more fun. As an extra bonus the PC could move on to the next enemy right away.

No I was being serious. Having Wynne finish of a High Drafgon was the best thing ever.

Nah, I prefer the way DA2's DLC did it. It's basically a matter of tedium. It's all fun and great the first time, but by the end of the game, it's never as satisfying.

Bring them back. Personally, I've never had a problem with them disrupting combat.

I could do without them. It was one of the more annoying parts of DAO gameplay.

They didn't happen enough to be annoying to me, and more often than not they occurred on boss/Lieutenant-level enemies; nothing more satisfying than decapitating the Genlock Emissary that just chain lightning'd your party.

I really like the throat cutting maneuver my rogue gets from a successful sneak attack in Skyrim.I would be thrilled if DAI had something similar.

If they bring back Deathblows/Finishers, they NEED to include one for archers!

(Like the epic slow motion in Merida's Archery Scene.)

And mages. =)

Sorry, I just couldn't think of any specific examples.

(Perhaps similar to how Moses parts the Red Sea in The Prince of Egypt? As in, a swelling of music as the mage lifts the staff, a dramatic pause, slow motion and/or close up as the mage gathers power, and then the music booms as the mage suddenly snaps down the staff as an incredible burst of magic blows the enemy away? Something like that?)

Ha, that's fine. I am actually ok with taking heed from Skyrim's simple slow mo kill cam. Seeing lightning slowly arc through your opponent is nice.

Heh, I haven't played Skyrim, but it sounds like it'll do the trick nicely. ^^

(Sorry, I just like having specific examples when I make suggestions.)

I want deathblows back, just not the really long ones like happened with dragons and ogres (unless the battle is over and your party is no longer in danger).
