^The Witcher 2 had some decent magic finishers.

That was quite a bit of twirling about, but those were decent.

I would love to see the finishers return. Though hopefully with a bit more variety than Origins. After a while it felt like I was watching the same handful over and over again.

Also it might be worthwhile having an option to turn them off (much like the blood option in previous games) for when it does feel repetitive.

If they are to implement this once again, I hope they aren't afraid to get brutal with it. I want to see swords fully impaling enemy bodies. I want to see daggers forcefully jammed into throats. I want to see warhammers flinging bodies around. Brutality can be achieved without enemies exploding into bloody bits.

Assassin's Creed did it pretty well IMO.

There was talk of dismemberment a while back, so it's possible you'll be cutting off arms and legs in normal combat (instead of just special deathblow animations).

Regardless, I believe Mike has said in the past that he wasn't happy they had to cut the finishing moves out of DA2, so I expect something like this is a definite possibility for Inquisition.

I never had a problem with deathblows getting in the way of my party winning a fight. I love killmoves and missed them during DA2. I do not want last enemy restriction, i feel it breaks the flow of the encounter and would feel out of place compared to Origins.

How I miss the days when Arcane Warrior Wynne would finish High Dragons in a brilliant display of acrobatic maneuvers.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but yes, that awesome acrobatic deathblow.  It maybe just for aesthetic purposes but it gives the player, well it gave me a sense of -- accomplishment as you would say as hordes of darkspawn is being beheaded or blood gushing out of them.  Not to mention, it's not you just doing it, even your companions are in the action of this awesome gorey mess.

Not to mention, no one complained about deathblows or finishing moves for arkham city, assassin creed, skyrim battlefield, and halo why should we stop it for this game? assassin's creed's assassination method from behind gives small animation that the player notices and  not so much as a huge cutscene.  batllefield is the same and so is halo.

I believe we should have deathblow return because it's cool as hell.

No I was being serious. Having Wynne finish of a High Drafgon was the best thing ever.

That is so awesome!

Wynne: I'm living in borrowed time, I tihink that I can't do much once all your (grey warden) mission is over.

(KIlls Archedemon with finisher)

Warden: Uhhhh...

Wynne: What? that was in my bucket list.

You should post a screenshot of Wynne doing it! that wold be so cool!

The deathblows did get pretty fun in the last Denerim level of DA:O. Technically, you're supposed to get most of your deathblows when the enemy is at low health and you land a critical hit. Even on higher difficulties, most of the Darkspawn "Grunt" NPCs you fought in Denerim could be killed in one hit by that point, so for me, a battle in Denerim became an endless assembly line of Rogue dual-wield decapitations and slashes. It was pretty dumb, but still funny in a rather badass way. Things like this made DA:O so enjoyable.

I think Arcane warriors get a lot of finishers because they auto-attack.

I agree that it'd be great to see deathblows back as long as they only happen on the last enemy of a fight (I too suffered frequently from Alistair is climbing an ogre woops rest of the party is now wiped!) - and boss-specific finishers or cinematics are always great too.

EDIT: And YES PLEASE we need some good rogue/mage finishers in there!:wizard:

DA2 deathblows were a little over the top.

I would like to see SOME of the ones from DA:O return. The quick, smooth decapitation, or driving the sword through and pushing them off with the shield. Moves like that I don't mind.

I'd rather do without the riding dragons and orgres, the exploding bodies, or the bodies falling into neat little pieces.

My favorite was the thrust and the push off, not over the top and fit right with the game.

I hated it so much when party members got the awesome deathblows instead of me.

I actually restarted the first Ogre fight more than once because Tower Guard was being more badass than I was. :P

Adding to the killblows, cause why not.

I thought that they added a lot to the fight. I mean yea they were only their to look cool and they made combat more fun to watch.

Maybe when your character goes in for a finisher time around them can slow so that it does not become a problem from a game play standpoint.

they could also make them specific to boss fights. Just to give it that flare. Also the finishers do not need to be over the top. I really miss the more imply ones like slicing a enemies head of or stabing them and pushing the enemy off your blade. I could see where the ogre could be annoying so avoid over the top finishers.

Or they could just let you turn them off in the menu.

If they do bring them back they need to make some finishers for mages to.

The absolute worst part was when, just as the giant Ogre or boss enemy was about to die, you don't land a critical, and they just fall over. The anticlimaticism killed me. I only saw the Ogre deathblow animation three times in my entire playthrough of DA:OUE; the scripted animation at Ostagar, an unscripted deathblow only once in all of Origins, and an unscripted one just before the Nest in Awakening.

I loved deathblows and I missed them. The only problem I had with them is...where does the head go? My favorite one is when the head gets chopped off. But, then...the head always disappears. Really wanted to kick Cauthrien's head across the floor. Oooooo, I would love if we could put heads on pikes around our castle. I doubt it'll happen, but my Cousland Queen would've enjoyed doing that to Howe.. atleast one of my Inquisitors will be that crazy. K, I got off subject.
