Hey! I actually remember a map Called "Frazier's demise" from DoW: SS, now I know where the name comes from.

Interesting can't say I'm familiar with the man. So much bitterness about the next game in that thread too, highly amusing.

What does a Lead Designer do? Amalur was pretty good from what I remember and, oddly enough, I just started playing Soulstorm again a few days ago and it's terrific.

Im not sure what a Lead Designer does really, I found Amalur kind of lacking, it felt kind of like a indie game with a AAA budget. The character and class system felt weird, my mage type of character didn't really feel like a mage to me.

With him having Amalur in his resume its not looking to shabby in my opinion.

Good luck to him, most of the titles he's worked on have been pretty solid, some of them were very very good! So, this looks promising :)

The lead designer of a game is mostly in a management position. They are not the person who comes up with the entire game's design, but they do represent it to the Project Lead, who has the final say over any design decisions. (Unless the publisher rejects it.... EAAAAA! *shakes fist*)

Basically, the design of ME4 is not the responsibility of this man alone. Being a lead in ANYTHING in games development demonstrates that you're good at what you do.

Titan Quest was one of the few, actually decent Diablo clones.

I think Ken Rolston shared a lot of design duties on Amalur though.

Not sure what this means for Mass Effect though.

Wow there are some panties getting ruffled in that thread, makes Bio forums look civil by comparison.
The 'pop-a-mole and waifus' comment was pretty funny though.

That game had a great weapon customisation and combat system.

If he can bring something of that into the next game then I'll be very happy.

I'd recommend against it. Trolling is a way of life over there. Most people there aren't whiners, but unapologetic racists and homophobes.

I'm not familiar with that forum, but I thought this line was pretty funny:
"(...) it is indeed a biowarian choice which is meaningless as the consequence is always the same."
Not that I fully agree with the sentiments behind it, but hey, it's creative!

Hopefully, this Frazier guy will settle in nicely and work some magic :-)

Truth be told:
That's ME1's dialogue system in a nutshell

Good for him! I liked Titan Quest well enough way back when I played it.

Hmmm. I played Amalur's demo and really didn't enjoy it, but it's not like Ian was solely responsible for the game. We'll see how this goes...

Kingdom of Amalur had simularities to ME's dialogue.

And Amalur was intended as a MMORPG before it got turned into a single player. Hence the reason why the game world is so huge.

It looks as if this might be a good fit. As long as he's not afraid to bring the vision that was seen in ME1 back and polish it in the same way ME2 made the gaming experience better than ME1.

I liked Titanquest and in particular the Immortal Throne expansion which improved the main game out of sight. I'm quite positive about this. For people unfamiliar with it the game was very focused on synergy between powers, which I liked a lot.

I love that byline in the title of the page. Such blind arrogance is amusing.

But, interesting. These don't seem like games that lend themselves to a third-person shooter at ALL.
