What are people's theories on why people are being snatched, people who may include... a familiar face. In Sci vs Fi part 2, we see a female in a pod, seemingly being killed with acid inside her pod. Will the familiar face meet a similar fate, will they be huskified?, or something worse!

Theories please.

It's fairly obvious that they're being turned into husks. Watch the Enemies if ME2 video.

Why wouldn't the Collectors just go after some other, more numerous species, like Turians or something. Seems odd they'd *only* target Humans.

They are attracted to the superior species.

the husks have a "necromorph" vibe to them, really creepy, wonder if the familiar face will be turned into a boss like "prey", sure hope not.

I mean, Humans are pretty unremarkable in the ME Universe, physically at least. Asari are more agile and have more biotic potential, Turians are more physically capable, and Salarians seems to be more intelligent, and are quoted as being mentally "faster" for sure. It's an RPG staple for Humans to be "in the middle" of things. So... why us? Why not make some uber Asari biotic husk? If their tech is so advanced that they can huskify humans, surely they could do it to other species and take advantage of their attributes.

They've gone after other species in the past, usually inputting some unusual specifics like having to be left-handed or a Quarian who hasn't gone on his/her pilgrimage yet.  They probably have something to do with the reapers, and since it was the Alliance that took Soverign down, that put humanity on the top of the list of species they want to collect.  It doesn't hurt that they probably don't have too much info on humanity.

If the collectors were capturing turians, then the plot wouldn't be as good because shepard is human. There is probably some lore explanation in-game as well.

Because humans are new to the galaxy, the collector's (who collect stuff) are most likely to wonder "WTF IS THIS ****?" when they see a human. They don't exactly hang out on the Citadel to keep track of history, either.

I think it is perfectly obvious why they want humans so badly . . . . find me another species in the galaxy that can rock a mullet haircut like we do . . . . thats what I thought!

But they're abducting colonies on the fringes of Alliance space... if they were interested in humanity because they took down a Reaper, why wouldn't they just "abduct" an Alliance ship or two?

I' m sure this will be answered in the story, now that I think about it. I just can't think of anything that's so extraordinary about humans that make them so attractive to "collect." Maybe the huskification process goes faster with us?

They do go after other species. In the last book there is talk about the Collectors and other species. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say more, but it looks like a giant science experiment. So perhaps they are studying them before anything bad happens. At least I hope so, cause my Shepard has to be able to rescue the familiar face character... if not, he won't want to survive the suicide mission... unless he can have Tali.

I know, they asked for other species as well... but they never just up and took whole freakin' colonies. They're also taking this prerogative themselves. Before, they just used people who wanted their technology to do the dirty work for them.

I think everyone completely disregarded what I posted up above.  Anyway, yes.  While the Collectors have been collecting other races, i'm pretty sure this is the 1st time they've done it openly other than contacts.

Sarcasm I hope.

Mass Effect Wiki

The Collectors usually operate through agents, such as the quarian Golo,
to make their deals. It has been speculated that the Collectors make
these strange requests because of strange fetishes or gruesome culinary
tastes. However, it is more likely that they perform genetic
experiments on these subjects. Regardless of the possible danger, their
requests are often granted by fringe groups because the technology the
Collectors offer in return is often extremely valuable, giving any race
who receives it an immediate advantage before it becomes adapted to the
galactic community.

"Human pride" folk sound like the damn Aryan Nation or somethin'. Come off it.
