I also thought of that possibility.  Maybe they'd have a station somewhere that we could visit and talk to them.  It would be some place like having an office or apartment on the Citadel, or something similar.

Not Where? Are you talking about the place where Ash was on the Vid? Maybe it's either Kaidan/Ash that gets abducted because you saved them from Virmire and has nothing to do with whether or not you romanced them but if you did and you can't interact it would be kinda mean to have interaction with Liara but not the other two. Possible the scene with Ash was like the scene on the Normandy when it goes down. As I understand it, Liara/Kaidan/Ash can be in that scene depending on who you romanced. Maybe it's the same with the Ash scene.

Liara doesn't have to stay in the same place does she?

Nope, its quite possible shes at that colony doing research or something? Or maybe its where she went to get over your death etc. Loads of easy ways she could be there.

I still say it's probably just going to be either Kaidan or Ashley. It's not a matter of what's fair, it's simply a matter of why a person would be there. Since Kaidan and Ashley had the same 'death' situation in Mass effect, and they will be in the Alliance, it's more likely either of them will be at the colony. We don't even know if Ashley is taken or not do we?

We don't.  We see a bug try to bite her, but she pulls it off and looks at it.  Then it switches to a shot of a random civilian.

Why wouldn't the Collectors just go after some other, more numerous species, like Turians or something. Seems odd they'd *only* target Humans.

This is delved into a little bit more in the book Mass Effect: Ascension. The Collectors have been around for a long time before the events of ME2, and previously they had been 'collecting' members of all the other known species.  In the book for example the Collectors are looking for Quarians. The only difference is that they weren't attacking colonies or ships like they seem to be in this game. Instead they avoided official contact with most species and bought their victims from slavers, mercenaries, and other unsavory characters..

Humans are being targeted now because they only became known to the galaxy relatively recently, and no doubt the events of Mass Effect 1 have somehow provoked the Collectors into a greater sense of urgency, hence the abducting of large numbers of captives at once.

In Ascension, they were looking for Human biotics to be delivered to them, keeping to their usual mode of doing things. They are now outright pwning entire Human colonies, and taking all the colonists back home. Maybe we taste like chicken? It just seems a bit... irrational.

Not Where? Are you talking about the place where Ash was on the Vid? Well if that happens early on in the video and the character is replaced with whicher LI you choose, it doesn't make sense for Liara. She's obviously preoccupied somewhere else. So it's either not in the beginning, or not for LI's specifically. Or Liara's info for ME2 is toward the middle/end which doesn't seem right given Redemption.

Thats true but those things are swarming... not just one but many...would be easy for one to get her on the back of the neck afterwards. Like a swarm of bees.

She's wearing armor that works as a space suit. If she put her helmet on quickly, unless the things can puncture hard armor, she'd be fine anyway. Well, unless she gets /shot/ by one of the bipedal Collector-folks wearing guns.

Lot's of human colonies near the fringes of civilization. No real defence so to speak, so perfect for abducting.



Building them colonies in terminus systems, like Freedom's Progress (Sounds like something americans wouldn plant in middle east, no offence) is really just asking for trouble IMO.

I agree.  And I don't think where Ash/Kaidan/Liara end up or what they're doing has anythingn to do with whether or not you romanced them.  It's probably the same even if your Sheppy remained single, just different or added dialogue if you did (hopefully).

Another thing to wonder about. Kinda wondering why she's on a colony in the first place. I was under the impression that the better assignments were on ships rather than guarding colonies. I would have thought that after Saren she would have received a promotion and wouldn't have anymore 'crap' assignments.

Hold on to that dream.  The military's been holding this grudge for 3 generations I don't think they intend to let it slide that easy.  Or maybe she was just visiting her family on the colony when the attack happened.
