Finding a miracle solution would be contrived, stupid writing. Like the Crucible. It's off the table.

If I recall correctly, you stated that discovering a solution in the third game was necessary for the story's momentum.

What other unfounded solution would you come up with for the Reapers? What's your idea for a Crucible replacement?

And please, don't Goldblum them.

The Alliance doesn't have the CB. And even if a miracle solution from the CB isn't a DEM, it's still a miracle solution. It's still mediocre writing at best.

I have no idea what Goldbluming is.

I don't know. I'd have to give it a hell of a lot of thought. I don't have a solution right now.

You at last understand ME.

Cerberus could cut a deal with the Alliance.  They will work with them in exchange for..... *insert Cerberus arc of your choosing*

In that case anything that beats the Reapers in ME3 would be a miracle solution, considering how they were portrayed in the first game. What should have those poor writers done for it not to be mediocre?

Trying to delude yourself into thinking the series is mediocre so you can delude yourself into thinking you don't care about it and you hence aren't under BioWare's power won't work. You wouldn't be spending copious amounts of time here if you really believed any of that nonsense.

That's simply not true at all.

I should mention that whatever nonconventional solution I would propose would exist alongside a conventional victory only available for a 'perfect' or near perfect playthrough of all three games. Which obviously complicates things significantly.

I can like something and still acknowledge that it is not exceptional writing.

That renegade interupt to Vendetta is a good example of this. "I'll stop them." "But..." "I'll stop them.(in the exact same tone. No difference.)"

I don't think they would work with cerberus for the simple fact of not trusting them and a betrayal would more than likely happen at some point. Which is why it would be hard to set up any alliance with them. I as well would think cerberus would be up to something or have their own agenda in plan. Also I can see plenty of disagreements that lead to friction and eventually a war between the 2.

Eh, I don't see the possibility of war being too big of a deterrent here. They wouldn't risk a petty squabble during a fight for survival.

The Alliance is a bunch of idiots who won't listen. Cerberus is a bunch of idiots who are so radical, they'd sell their souls to achieve their goals(which they did eventually).

I'm going with the Quarian Flotilla or the Turian Hierarchy instead.

If Cerberus wasn't indoctrinated, why would I have to worry about a betrayal? I'd be more worried about some alliance goon getting overzealous with his "we can't do that, it's inhumane/evil!"

It's not an ulterior agenda if I'm working towards it.

The quarians are an airlock away from certain death and the Turians are no better than the Alliance

I guess, but what could cerberus offer them that the alliance doesn't already have. On the other hand cerberus could use the alliance for a lot which is why I can't see it happening.

Gosh, I just doing this over and over again. The Alliance are a 'bunch of idiots' for not building 50 bajillion dreadnoughts because Shepard says so? Is that about right?

The Collector base, or at least bits of it, in addition to their own technology.
